This is an interestng blog

http://alex.halavais.net

I wonder what college would have been like if we'd had blogs and professors into them.

I use a blog to disseminate information to my class. It is on blogger.com but I embed it into my ufl.edu class webpage:

http://www.arts.ufl.edu/theory/mut1121/blog.html

Very very very useful. I wonder how I ever got by without it. Kids don't listen in class to announcements nowadays, but if I put it on the internet... they know about it.

Your class sounds hard, but I am not a musician. I can't even get that kind of communication with my boss :(

It is a tough class even for musicians; a sort of weed-out course. I take pride in my communications and accesibility: they're a big part of the glowing reviews I seem to get every semester. The blog is a crucial new part of that.

Given the photo on the home page of the "Comte de Halavais," it's hard not to chuckle at the irony that his office is in a building called Baldy.

One of my graduate professors has a blog that she uses to comment on the state of the academy. I find it really interesting as a window into the profession, post-tenure. http://margaretsoltan.phenominet.com/
