Never had them. I've seen them occasionally but never tried them.

I'd probably like them with cheese though!

I do like biscuits and gravy :)

Mmmm, I grew up in the South and grew up on grits. They are my favorite simple carb. Grits with garlic, cheese, and lots of black pepper, a true breakfast treat.

If you've had polenta, you've had grits. Polenta is just bigger grained grits.

Oh, my god. You've never had grits!? Freak! I love grits. My grandma used to make them at night, then the leftovers we'd have for breakfast. She'd use the gridle and make fried grit patties with lots of honey over top. We had grits twice a day as a child at Grandma's house, and I love them. Put butter and salt on them, or sugar and milk. Mmmm. You can eat them any which way you want, but yeah. Cheese is yum with them.

I'm a northerner

Grits aren't that popular in the Northeast US where I've lived my whole life. I've seen them in buffets or on menus sometimes, just never at them.

I'm still shocked that biscuits and gravy is a true North American thing. I have friends in Europe and Africa who've never experienced the wonder of American biscuits and gravy. Mmmmm. Now I'm wanting a big plate of 'em!

I sent a few friends in England a few packets of dried gravy and biscuits to make, but it's just not the same.

As one of Northern ancestry who grew up in the south....I can honestly say I don't care for either. Sweet tea I am addicted to, but those other bastions of southern food - grits and biscuits and gravy just never took. Give me oatmeal with milk and salt, and biscuits with butter or jam!

Don't like grits either... must be a southern thing! Barely tolerate oatmeal cereal but I love oatmeal cookies.. is that weird or what? hah!

Grits taste like almost exactly nothing at all, to me. They are a fine way to get butter or brown sugar or something into your mouth, though.

they are very very good with butter and salt. A staple of my southern upbringing.

I grew up in the north (michigan) but went to college in the south (georgia) and learned to LOVE grits with sugar, cinnamon and milk, Yum!

Biscuits and Gravy are the shit! My hubby makes them the BEST when we're camping, on the campfire ;) *Drool*
