Never did post about Alan's birthday and the weekend.

The day started off crazy with having to get Mark's car fixed. We ended up having it towed to the mechanic, so we were stuck with 1 car for the weekend. Then all 3 of us went to the clothing swap. We got there around 9:15, so I'm sure we missed a few goodies. I did find Alan an older but still nice Rothschild jacket and snow pants as well as a pair of Sorrell Snow boots in size 11. Mark did pick up some of the things I'd donated, so I had to tell them they were ours (I had him looking between 3t and 5, I'd donated some worn 3t things). We did find this really cute Led Zepplin T in 3t, but it turns out to have shrunk - it's closer to a 2t, we'll keep it for our friends.

We then came home and my MIL came over. We stopped at Boston Market for lunch on the way to my SILs. Alan got his free birthday lunch (kids mac and cheese). Mark had wanted to take Alan out for his birthday so this was a compromise, since my SIL didn't want to come by us or my MIL. Then we went to my SILs in Jersey City. Mark and I left Alan with SIL, MIL and a family friend and took a walk around the neighborhood. She lives near the PATH station in Journal Sqaure and near an Indian Shopping street (we call it Patel Street as many of the stores were Patel this and Patel that, but it's really Newark Street). Didn't get much except fruit but it was a nice walk. I love looking at saris and Indian clothing but it would look odd on me to wear it around. My MIL didn't want to do candles, so she got a music playing one - and Alan's cake was a cheesecake with Happy Birthday Alan written on it as Alan loves cheesecake. He wasn't interested in it - he preferred his Thomas toy. So I have no cake eating or looking at photos this year.

Alan briefly napped on the way home. Later he got his present from us (Salty and an IOU for Thomas Day out next month) and we opened the Hot Wheels track my MIL got him and then we found a bag of stuffed animals etc (I posted this earlier) by the trash which was kind of cool.

Sunday we did our usual stuff - Dollar Tree/Big Lots and a stop at the hamburger place nearby. Then after Alan's nap, Mark vaccuumed and Alan and I went to Shoprite. I ended up going back to Shoprite again later in the evening as we needed a gift card for a friend and I forgot something on sale.

So Alan had a low key birthday this year. I figure next year, we will do something with his friends.

That's all Alan wants these days - to watch Dora. Not Sponge Bob, not Thomas, not Nickelodeon, not Sesame Street.

Happy late B-day to Alan! I'm jealous that you get the Thomas' Day outs fairly close. The nearest any are to us is at least a state away.

It isn't that close - it's in Essex CT which is about a 3 hour ride - Alan is a good traveler though. But we waited too long to book the train ride, we had to take the 9 AM slot.

There were a few this year within 2-3 hours of us - Strausburg, PA is close and there was one in the NY Catskills. Guess it depends on where the rails are?
