Semi-busy weekend this weekend. Alan and I were home Friday due to the snow. Since he was sniffling/coughing we stayed in all day. When Mark came home, he brought home 2 items found at work – they were cleaning out closets for an upcoming move. One was a really nice personalized clock. I was able to pry off the brass plaque with the name on it – and now we have a nice little Seth Thomas clock for Alan. The other was a glass bowl – shaped like half a fishbowl (one side is flat) – I think it was supposed to be a vase…with some engraving on it. Mark thought it was a fishbowl for Alan, so we went and got 2 fish at Value City – an orange one and a pale silver colored one ( both “goldfish” ) as well as a net, water conditioner and food – I don’t think they like the food – it’s big Tetra flakes, because they don’t rush up to eat it. But I did see them p**ping, so I guess they are eating. I keep asking Alan to name them. He doesn’t seem to have any interest in naming them.
Saturday was Alan’s doctor’s appointment. I also took him to Starbucks on the way home and got him his first hot drink – the carmel apple cider. I don’t think he liked it, I ended up drinking what didn’t spill.
Sunday we went to my Starfleet groups meeting. Normally, they meet in a bookstore, but in December they have to find somewhere else to meet. So they met in the Wegmans near the Woodbridge mall – it has an upstairs café. Alan was pretty good there – he also devoured pizza and half of a huge pickle we got him. It was nice to see some of our friends there – we hadn’t seen many of them since a member’s funeral in the spring (which we had to rush home from due to a sick Alan.) I’ve phased out my activity in Starfleet due to the distance (it’s not the closest chapter – its an hour away – but I’ve never lived close to them) and having Alan (not all activities are child-friendly). They are planning a possible trip to the Franklin museum in March, we’d go to that – Mark has wanted to go there forever.
Alan has been talking more – even his daycare agreed with me. Don’t know if is coincidence with attending the PSD (preschool disabled) class or age – but he was able to string a few sentences together last night along the lines of I do this, I do that, I read book, I go to bed (forget the exact words). He still screams NO most of the time – sometimes when he’s in that mood – he’ll say NO right after I say Alan even before I say what it is. But sometimes he says yes – we were playing the new Neil Diamond CD in the car (12 Songs) and we asked him if he liked the music and he said yes. I like the last song on the CD in particular – but if you like his early 70’s stuff you’ll like it.
But Alan has been a little aggressive at daycare – he’s pushed or kicked other children. I hope it is just a phase – and that he’ll settle down – he’s had a lot of life changes lately – moving into the bedroom, changing schools, getting fish!
This AM, Alan stayed in his room till about 6 when he woke up. And since he banged the door coming in, he woke us up. At some point I think he will like to stay in his room, but at least he seems to know he sleeps in there now. He also managed to find and take a spoon out of cheesecake we bought him yesterday while I was getting dressed! (He LOVES his cheesecake).
Got company coming over later for dinner – it’s going to be a busy week (except at work).
