Alan and I ran errands this AM. A haircut for him...distract him with Thomas and trim him with the buzzer at the train table and he's ok. He's up to haircut #6 (or is it #7) ever - they have one of those get x haircuts, get one free - he didn't get his first till just about age 2!
After that we went to Panera (cafe mocha and spinach egg thing for me, chocolate chip muffie for him (it's a mini muffin top). Then to AC Moore to look at Thomas stuff. Got him a train (he didn't see it) and a book. Also got some cute pads for his teachers. Then to Riverside Square (little upscale mall) to hit Bath and Bodyworks (antibacterial soap for teacher presents) - he did ok there, not great and then Gymboree (wanted 2 items not yet on sale..ended up spending a little over 53.00 for a tneck, active pants, matching socks, and plain socks. Lastly, the fish store near our house, we'd never been there - but I got gravel and a little castle for the still unamed goldfish. They've made it a week (and water change). I'm impressed.
At 2 we went to Chuck E Cheese for Alan's first birthday party with classmates. I recognize a few people there - but the layout of the party room isn't great for chatting (long tables). Alan didn't like the show - his favorite toy there was the glass enclosed train. Later after people left he was more social playing with the birthday girl (the birthday boy twin was shy). I may have found a sitter for Alan in the AM from one of the mom's I knew, so it was worth going. But we won't be going to Chuck E Cheese for a while - and if his fourth birthday is at a party place, it will be one where he's the only party there - he's not a crowd lover.
Then we went to my MILs for a bit - tried to fix her DVD burner (still won't autoplay). Also sorted alot of Alan's old clothes for give aways. Hung on to a lot of Gymboree for now, but did find a lot of 3-18 month stuff for my friend Ellen's boys (although I'm not supposed to know they are boys). Most of the very little stuff is gone, I think I recycled it to LJ friends or the clothing swaps. I didn't spot the box of early clothes I was saving, but it's aroud somewhere in my MILs garage,
Came home. Did laundry. Made chocolate chip toll house cookies in a pan for tommorrow's Xmas party at Mark's uncles. Mark is playing around with internet radio in the living room. He signed up to try netflix today. He's amazed at all the obscure and semi-obscure music dvd's - everything from lots of Todd Rundgren, to Richard Thompson, to Spock's Beard (progressive group) to Great Big Sea.
Relaxing now, and to bed soon as we have 6 hours of driving to Mark's uncle (in Bristol, CT home of ESPN!) It will be us and my MIL. I hope Mark will drive my car, he hasn't yet (and since it is a silver cavilier, he can't use the *pink* excuse he did with my car!)
