I had to into NYC today and not work from home. I just knew we'd BOMB Iraq today.
I wasn't in a good mood this AM, it was that time of the month :( and I had to go to NYC. My bus zipped into the Lincoln tunnel in the bus lane, passing the tolls where traffic was being stopped and checked. Otherwise it was pretty normal. We have office construction going on, so I had to go up the back elevator.

Then we had an announcement that the water in the building was being turned off in 1/2 an hour and anyone who had to do something should do so. A few people dashed for the bathroom, so our office manager then said to be orderly about it ! As it turned out there was an emergency that would shut the water off in the office the reat of the day. So we were allowed to go home (no water = no sprinklers = not safe). On my way home (actually driving in my own town) I found out we bombed Iraq. I'm so glad to NOT be in NYC now. It's just weird that the water problem happened today. We've had other troubles in our building (last year a power line shorted out), so its not inconceivable, but interesting timing. (No, I didn't think terrorists when this happened, just something with our construction.)

it makes you wonder, doesn't it?

I work for a large government agency and all last week there were police guarding every entrance because we're considered to be a large target. I left early two days last week due to appointments and was out sick Thursday and Friday, and the thought crossed my mind more than once that maybe I just wasn't meant to be there right now. And that worked for me! the anxiety is very high right now.
