Blech

I feel ech today, tired, achy - haven't been getting a lot of sleep lately.

Tommorrow's forecast depresses me also - snow in the AM. One or both of Alan's schools could be cancelled. If daycare is open all day I'm ok (or if it opens late). If both close, I stay home. If daycare is open and the weather is icky, I might try to work from home.

Repairs in progress:
DVD/VCR - should arrive today. This means Mark gets his computer back and Alan will watch dvd's on the tv. this way he won't interrupt Alan in the middle of a cartoon to look something up (which *I* think could have waited and was rude - and it was on his PC, not the net, or he could have used my computer).

Windshield wiper arm - arrived at dealer, will get installed Saturday (all of 10 minutesat most!)

Microwave - not yet. I am hoping for Saturday.

Car - ready tommorrow. According to the dealer, the insurance won't pay past tommorrow. Well, I can't pick it up since they close at 5 and I leave work at 5:30 (if it weren't snowing). If it does snow so I'm home, I may be able to get the car. I can't even return the rental at night as I can't walk Alan to school with the impending weather :( (Mark said he'd cover if he had to though). I'll be glad to get my car back though. I will miss the power locks/windows/remote trunk opening. I will NOT miss the alarm I set off accidentally this AM.

One of my coworkers is out today and will miss the pot luck. Me, I've decided I will try everything - we have a multi-ethnic group - people are bringing curry, indian, jerk chicken, chinese, russian and Susan made her famous orange cake for dessert. I'm not fond of indian food, but maybe I've not had the right stuff.

I hope tonight goes better. Alan spends too much time watching tv at night as we both end up being busy and having stuff to do. And Alan doesn't want to eat dinner, but will eat before bed (he'll do almost anything to avoid bed except brush his teeth). So he winds up staying up later than I want. I keep saying to Mark that he shouldn't eat late and learn to eat when we do, but I keep losing the battle. I could so use a nanny's help in discipline, and shorter hours too.

Oh will you get snow? Do you live in the north of the USA? Take care with the car so not the roads are too slippery. In our town it has been snowing all day. And the roads have a white cover again. The temperature was -10C

I live in New Jersey and work in NYC. Someday I will photograph my commute - I walk through Times Square on the way to work.

Wish I could help you with the scheduling stuff. From what I've observed, my other friends with small kids range all over the place (from highly scheduled to totally unscheduled). Does that "Nanny 911" show have a Web site?

what IS jerk chicken?? I have some 'carribean jerk seasoning' that I like...and I've heard of jerk chicken....but what does the term mean? how does it appear? taste?

It's a roast chicken with a hot sauce on the side apparently. I liked it but it wasn't my favorite of the dishes I had.

The lunch was a success, even if I had to run to the 99 cent store afterwards to get plastic containers to store the leftovers - I'd brought the lasagna in a foil tray. (Yes, on the bus and in a foil keep cold bag - I left it sitting on the empty seat next to me as I rode...no one noticed.)
