Alan’s got a bit of a cold today, I sent him to school – hopefully he’ll be ok. We did keep him home yesterday but he didn’t go to sleep as early as I would have liked. But at least Mark got sleep, which he needed – he worked all day Sunday on stuff.

Anyway it was a dull weekend. Saturday AM I took my car to the dealer for the new windshield wiper arm. Since Mark was happy to watch Alan I walked over to Target to look for bargains while waiting. No luck. I ended up JUST buying diapers. I was going to go to Goodwill afterwards, but since I had to go to the post office for Mark, I didn’t have time. So I ended up going to the post office, paying his morning sitter and going to the library. (I was going to pay her Friday night – was stuck in line getting cash at the bank (I needed to have 75.00 in cash for her, so I needed change AND the one working ATM wasn’t printing receipts – so I ended up rushing to get Alan as I was late).

Later we went to our friends house. We stopped at Walmart to get Mark’s car’s oil changed. It sounds better now, he was down a quart and had icky old oil. I guess Chevy Geo’s (disguised Toyotas) with 127K miles are hard to kill. We also checked out Tuesday Morning which is a neat store – but Alan was a cranky boy until we got him lunch at McDonalds (he’d skipped lunch). Alan really enjoyed being with our friends son. It doesn’t hurt that he owns a train table – but I noticed the 2 boys talking much more with each other. We had pizza for dinner and headed home.

Sunday Mark worked and Alan stayed in. I went to the grocery store and did laundry. Alan did surprise us by eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch. And at dinner, he was hungry and started to pour his own cereal. He knows everything he needs – he gets clean dishes and spoons from the dishwasher and can even pull drinks out of the refrigerator.

I still NEED to cut his toenails. Stride Rite’s Buy 1 get one ½ off sale is this weekend, I’d like to get him fitted and perhaps get him some good shoes for the summer. But he screams if you try to cut them. He likes his feet kissed and is ok with finger nails being cut though. Maybe I can finally convince Mark to help me with the nails – he needs to be held.

TJ won't let me cut his nail, either. I need to do it when he's asleep and I always forget. His teacher last year used to get grossed out and cut them for me. Another bad mommy award for me!

But yeah, I just clip them when he's asleep. If I remember to, that is. ;)

I try to talk Arden into 'listening for the click'. That engages her for most of the first foot. Then, I let her play for a while, and we do that next one. Good luck with that--toddlers can be VERY WILLFULL!

Remember how [livejournal.com profile] karisu_sama and [livejournal.com profile] didjiman used to have a 1988 Chevy Nova (another disguised Toyota) for that very reason?

I remember that car.

I don't think they make any more disguised Toyotas, but Mark has said if he gets another car he'd get a Toyota. (If we hadn't stumbled on my car, I probably would have gotten one myself).

I have loved every Toyota I've ever owned. The only time they've ever given me trouble is when I haven't been taking good care of them.

Actually, the Toyota Matrix and Pontiac Vibe were developed jointly by GM and Toyota. I think that there are a lot more Matrixes than Vibes on the road, though....

I was actually looking at the Matrix/Vibe. It's the closest to a 4 door hatchback car out there these days. (I do not know how to drive a big SUV/Van and would rather not).

I hope it soon will go better with cutting his nails. And I hope Allan will not be sick in his cold. I remember when Lennart stopped with diapers and how proud he was to sit on the potty and did that he had to do ;).

The only way we can convince H to have his nails cut is for *everybody* to have their nails cut...D cuts his, then he cuts mine, then we cut Susie's (H's stuffed dog) then H will agree that maybe we can cut some of his nails...

H2, I forget the nail part and I only manage to cut is fingers. Oops. It's now Daddy's job.
