1. How old are you? I am 40, DH is 41
2. How old is your child/children? (for the preggers, use -the number of months/weeks left to go) 5 3/4 months - born 10/15/02
3. Boy/Girl? Boy, Alan.
4. Did you/do you plan to breastfeed? If so, why, if not, why not? Yes, I am. Alas, it isn't 100% but every little bit helps prevent allergies. (It was my allergist who planted the idea of breastfeeding in my head!)
5. Did you/do you plan to use cloth nappies? If so, why, if not, why not? No. Cloth diapers and pay laundry machines don't mix well. And, although there is one around here, I didn't consider a diaper service (didn't like the idea of diapers lying around.)
6. Did you know the sex of your baby/babies before birth? Did you ask? Yes. My dad passed away shortly before we knew the sex (at about 12 weeks, due to having a CVS test) and I decided to know when my OB asked.
7. Did you always want children? Not with my ex-DH. But current DH and I always did eventually.
8. Were your children planned? We were trying and were surprised to find we conceived on our own at our ages.
9. Do you ever wish your experience of parenthood was different? Why? I wish we had a house and not a cramped 2 bedroom condo and that I were a little younger. I also didn't know how much attention a little one needs!
10. What do you think your children will be like as adults/older children? Curious, offbeat, bright, creative.
11. Name three things you wish for your children. Health, happiness and know he's loved very much (oh, and no allergies like DH and I!)
12. Which attributes have your children taken from each parent/family member? It's early, but Alan seems to have my color hair, DH's poor sleeping habits :(, and crossed eyes which we both had (I had surgery, I forget if/how DH's are fixed).
13. Did your experience differ from what you expected? How so? I didn't expect a c-section (due to size and head being over the pelvic bone, I didn't go into labor at 39 weeks). He also needed more attention that I thought a baby would :( I also don't know much about little boys due to not being around children much (I was a little girl...)
14. Do you want more children? Yes. I'm not sure if that will happen. I really don't want Alan to be an only child, but am not sure if I will physically be able to have another child or if I can handle 2 children. I would really like a little girl if I could/do have one, but will love another little boy also.
