Power Failure Story

I left work early today because I had my ever so often psy doc appointment to get a prescription. After nearly 4 years in the bottom floor of an old 60's office building in Hackensack, the mental health program moved into a building next to Hackensack Hospital which they are part of. It took a little while to find it (I had the old place on auto-pilot). But it was nice, with a fish tank and tv (on the cartoon channel) in the waiting area.
Anyway, I'd just about finished my visit and the doctor was writing out the prescription when the lights went out. It was 5:45 PM and still light, so he finished the prescription and I left planning to call tommorrow for a follow up. Other people were leaving also. The doctor had said the computers went down a few times that day, but this was the first time everything went out.
I left and drove to Shoprite to fill my prescription. When I left Shoprite I noticed the traffic light between my house and Shoprite was out. (I don't think the one at the shopping center entrance was). So when I got home, I decided to call Hackensack police (the center is in Hackensack) and mention it as it was odd they didn't have anyone there. I called the non emergency number and was told the whole town was out. I mentioned Shoprite wasn't and neither was Little Ferry where I am.
It was weird and reminded me of the NYC blackout of 2003.
