Weekend recap

Friday, I picked up my car from the dealer. No charge except for the oil change. When I left the to get my car, I got 1/4 towards it, and they paged me. I'd forgotten the books I was carrying with me. Then I got to the car, and they'd left a rag in it. So I returned it - joking that they forgot something.
Meanwhile a older man pulled up in an rundown looking old Renault wagon (1981, I looked at the inspection sticker). He got out and was looking at the Aveo (the cheapest car and made by Daewoo). I couldn't help thinking a few dialogues in my head - "Any car is better than my car". Or "I had my car 20+ years, will these last that long!". I don't know if he actually bought one or not. I'm sure if he tried a trade in, off the Renault would go to the scrap yard!
Then I went to Target. The annual summer line was 50% off already, 2 weeks before July 4th. I'm guessing it didn't sell well (the colors aren't as nice as past years). I'm not ready for fall (or fall trans) stuff yet - the stores are filling up with beiges/browns/dark summer weight stuff. And Target had school uniform pants on display yet - and school hasn't ended yet in the NY/NJ area (many end this week). It also hit me that Alan will go back to school (his pre-k program this year). Soon I'll be buying school supplies for him - not that many years off!
Saturday we hit the local library book sale (just one book for Alan for 10 cents) and the Meadowlands flea market. Alan had *his* pickle as usual. We also met a friend there. He brought a bootleg copy of Cars (really, really bad taped in a theatre) and got Alan a copy of 8 Below. I also got the Thomas the Tank engine movie from some place that seemed to be disposing of surplus non pirated new and used DVDs. Alas, no Thomas trains were found (I keep looking for someone to sell some who has no clue what they go far).
(We will take Alan to see Cars in a movie...we are just going to wait till it gets to the 4.00 theatre or 2.00 one). And we will get a better official copy of the movie when we can.
Then Alan and I went swimming in the condo pool, first time this year. (My LL Bean bathing suit arrived just in time...no more nursing suit!). He had fun and picked up where he left off, tossing the pool noodles into the pool. After swimming and being at the flea market and having no nap he was tired. He ended up falling asleep on his 2nd viewing of the movie, right in the chair.
For Father's Day Alan gave Mark the 2 cards he'd made and the pencil holder he made. Mark liked them :) Then we wanted to go to the Palisades mall in Nyack to eat at the Chinese buffet there and walk around in A/C. We hit Target and headed to the buffet. But we discovered that it had moved and wasn't open in the new location. So we left and drove back to our old friend Lodi Buffet (the one with the fish!). They had father's day prices (bleh, but I knew Alan wanted buffet or as he says it "fay"!) So I treated us to lunch. Then we came home and Alan and went swimming again while Mark did work.
Alan was in a good mood for most of the day except cranky after nap (we woke him because my MIL was here). But after dinner (pierogis) and a trip to Shoprite, he and played bubbles outside on our deck. He loves bubbles! Then a bath for him with daddy and we played briefly with magnetic letters before Daddy and Alan went to bed (then a friend called, so Mark and Alan got up again.)
Back to work tommorrow. I have a training class and should crash soon.

Date: 2006-06-19 05:05 pm (UTC)I had a bad experience with a Daewoo VCR/DVD, so I don't think I'd get the car.
