Odds and Ends
Apr. 18th, 2003 09:32 amYesterday I picked up Alan from Nadia (daycare). She had lots of her family over (as is usual, I don't mind - they all love Alan!) Someone brought McDonalds as they didn't like her food. She offered me some of her cooking - a lamb, tomato and string bean stew and rice piaff - it was delicious, although I didn't eat the lamb, I couldn't get it off the bone with the spoon she gave me. Alan will be so lucky that she'll cook for him when gets a little older.
Alan's been doing ok with food so far. He's had rice cereal+breast milk, bannanas, sweet potatoes, apples and carrots (I've tasted a little of each so far, not bad)- tonight we will try peas (Daddy's favorite, he's been waiting for this one!) I just keep having problems with bibs, as food still seems to seep down under the neckline and get on his shirt - am I missing something here or are certain bibs better? (I did discover that Oxyclean works well on carrots and sweet potatoes :))
Last night after Alan went to bed we heard a lot of crying. I went to check on him and found his head under the bumper. Off came the bumper, for good (it had never fit great as my Ikea crib has solid ends and this one was designed for ends with bars?). Alan has to get used to this, and I know that the feet sticking through the bars is ok. Soon we will have to lower the crib.
I just found out my office closes at 3 today (I'm in NYC today) because of the holiday of Good Friday! Nice!
This weekend we will help a friend with a home improvement project (her mom will watch Alan while we help). Maybe our friend's dog will lick Alan in the face again. On Easter Sunday, we will go to the nearby zoo and park (Van Saun Park, Paramus, NJ) as it will be nice out. Perhaps Alan can ride on the train and carosel for the first time!

Date: 2003-04-18 12:53 pm (UTC)She rolled over for the first time at about 6 months and from then on her head, feet and arms kept getting tangled up in blankets and bumpers. We had to buy her an extra firm mattress and strip her crib of everything but a blanket. It looked so austere and didn't exactly fit my vision of my rosy baby girl sleeping blissfully in her frilly, padded crib, but such is life! :-)
