Made it to work. Decided to wear a white cotton sleeveless blouse and a brick red skirt and try to stick my hair in a similar color scrunchy – I am awful at doing my hair. New boss seems quiet for the 1 minute I met him. Alan wore Naartjie, a sleeveless T and camo shorts – I figured if anyone knows heat it’s South Africa!

Talked to Alan’s teacher – apparently he’s been hitting/kicking lately. No more violent cartoons I think.

I discovered the error on my check was in the YTD column. So no extra money. Must learn to read my paystubs more carefully.

Interesting about Castro turning things over to his brother. It would be nice if Cuba was free. They’d probably get lots of $ from tourisim and old car buffs looking for parts.

Honestly given the changes in power in other countries since 1959, I really wonder if Cuba is the threat that was perceived in the past. They do happen to be the physically closest dangerous country - but as 9/11 showed the US, distance isn't the big problem anymore.

And just what we need is another tropical storm which if the path holds would hit Florida.

Hopefully NY/NJ will survive this brutally hot day. I remember heat waves but not 2 days where they predict temperatures over 100.

Let us not forget Cuban cigars! The hubby picked up a couple in Nassau and found them slightly better then the Dominican Republic ones.

Oh, I'm sure the cigar types would swoop down and buy everyone they can. And probably pay $ to get a cigar factory up and running.

Cuba is mostly dangerous because they have cheap sugar :P

Do you think if hurricanes cause enough damange to all those developments on the coasts enough times they'll stop rebuilding?

Nah -probably not.

I can remember picking up my oldest son from daycare and knowing it was a good day if the teacher didn't tell me about all times my son was hitting and kicking other kids. Sigh.

He was such a sweet kid too.. Just didn't like the daycare setting.
Luckily he learned to behave very quickly.

It has been so hot! Just so hot.
And I agree, it would be something if cuba changed..

oh man, those older cars, ya!! I always picture them when I think of Cuba, like from the movies and all.

I remember hearing once that Castro made a comment that if they didn't like the policies or a US president, no problem, they just had to wait 4 years.

;)

I was in the city last night and man, it was hot! I can't imagine how you do it every day. (I'll blog later about why I was in the city)

Sucks about the check, would have been nice to get a bit extra.

Castro's announcement about his power was most interesting. I think Cuba was still perceived as a danger because of its history and friendships with other nations.

This heat is absurd!!!!
