"Why is it that, as a culture, we are more comfortable seeing two men holding guns than holding hands?" - Ernest Gaines

We would like to know who really believes in gay rights on LiveJournal. There is no bribe of a miracle or anything like that. If you truly believe in gay rights, then repost this and title the post as "Gay Rights". If you don't believe in gay rights, then just ignore this.Thanks.

I can't believe the controversy this little post has generated. I basically posted the statement as you posted it, having read the quote and noting that it is somewhat ironic that we are more offended by two men holding hands rather than two men holding guns. I see it as a posting of my beliefs, and yes, some people are offended by the terminology 'gay rights'. Maybe the last statement was a loaded question that put too many people on the spot. It was a black or white issue, with no shades of gray. Either way, it did make people think.

On the spot for what? Because we didn't like the idea of 'if you don't post this, obviously you're a bigot'? Ah, sorry...I didn't post it, and I'm sure my lifemate (who happens to be the same sex I am) and I *are* 'for' gay rights. What I'm not for is being told if I *don't* post something in my journal (where it's quite obvious that yes, I am in a 'gay' relationship) I'm obviously *not* for those rights.

The only 'spot' it put me on was the one against 'my way or the highway'.
