Weekend :(
May. 4th, 2003 09:26 pmIt's nine PM Sunday and we've had a busy weekend.
Saturday we went to the Trenton Computer Faire. A bunch of us go every year, its a ritual. This year attendance was down, don't know if it was the weather, the economy, lack of bargains or what, but it was less crowded than I've seen it. Alan went also, in his "Newbie" onesie I had gotten. He was a good boy not complaining at all. We checked out both the outdoor flea market and indoor vendors and briefly stopped at a talk, but Alan was grumpy, so I left DH there (it was on stock analysis). We also hung out with some friends of ours at the booth where our sci-fi club was recruiting. (It sounds odd, but they got the idea from the Libertarian party that has a booth every year also). We then went to Hometown Buffet (yum!) - Alan was also good there. The final stop for the day was a friend's house to watch the Kentucky derby and hang out a bit. This friend isn't well and her daughter hadn't seen Alan yet. Alan was pretty good there, even when he was smootched by a 2 year old (what is it with him and "older" women?) He did meltdown a little, but it was a long day and her house was hot :(
Today we went to the Hoboken Arts Festival. We arrived in Jersey City and realized the car seat carrier was in the OTHER car :(. So, we ended up getting an umbrella stroller in a "discount" store and headed onto the PATH (a train/subway) to Hoboken. (We park in Jersey City, no parking in Hoboken). Alan was very good. He cried only for food and once because a band was too loud but DH and I got him quiet. He barely napped all day, but was pretty much in a good mood. We came home, I fed him carrots/brown rice baby food (Gerber Tender Harvest), bathed him and put him to bed. With minimal fuss, he finally fell asleep. (We will give this stroller to our babysitter, and take back the other one we bought which has a basket and parent/child trays. She doesn't need all that just to take him to the park, but we can use those features at all day festivals/fairs/adventures!)
One funny thing. Alan's crib is next to the master bedroom. DH often sleeps in the other bedroom because he is a poor sleeper. Alan tends to wake up when I go to bed, so I decided to sleep with DH on Saturday night. Went to bed around 10:30, got up once around 12:30 to go to the bathroom...next thing I know it was 5:30, I was in the master bedroom bed AND I had dragged my pillow back from the other bedroom AND Alan was in bed with me. I had NO recollection of going into the other room! Alan and I went back to sleep we got up around 8:30 AM, and both of us had a good night's sleep.

Date: 2003-05-09 09:34 am (UTC)BTW, you're Leslie from Feline-L, right? I saw you on the list of people who had me listed as a friend and figured it had to be you since I don't know any other Leslies. How have you been?

Date: 2003-05-13 07:08 am (UTC)I'm not sure I've heard from you in a while. I got remarried to Mark in 2001 and moved with 2 of my 3 cats (I had to rehome one due to DH's allergies) to Little Ferry, NJ. I had a son, Alan in October 2002. I work in NYC (right now I work from home some days, but will have to work in NYC full time soon :( ). I still have Moxie who's almost 15 and Inky who's 13. Both are very healthy except for losing teeth in dentals. (Simba, my orange tabby was rehomed to someone on feline-l).

Date: 2003-05-13 07:39 am (UTC)Unfortunately, I do not have the same cats I had when last we talked. All three of them died within about a year -- Gus in late 1999 of a heart defect, Gracie in March 2000 of kidney damage, and Molly in December 2000 of cancer. We were living in Florida when Gracie and Molly died -- we lived there for 3 years.
Our current two cats are pictured in my icon: Wembley's on top and Zippy's on the bottom. They, along with my DH Ray and me, make up our happy little family.
Oh, and we now live in northern Virginia, near DC. We moved here a couple months ago so I could take a job at AOL. We like it so far. And despite my paranoia about moving with the cats (both Gracie and Molly got deathly sick within a couple months of our last interstate move), they both seem to be doing just fine, and enjoying the new place.
