Smoke and Roping

Last night when I got home, DH was in the hall asking if I smelled smoke. I did and he asked me what to do. I said call the fire department, let them check it out. So I called 911.
Anyway, the police and fire department came. They were nice about it - checked around, even brought their heat seeking camera. Turned out our neighbors (the ones we had trouble with last year) had a paper fire earlier. (No, I don't know exactly what happened). I guess better safe than sorry.
Later when I was doing laundry, I had to knock on the door of our across the hall neighbor since I need to do laundry and she'd left some in the washer. They are a young Korean couple with a little girl. While mom went to put the laundry in the dryer, her little girl (about 1 year old) crawled out of the apartment to find her. She was so cute, I remember Alan at that age. (It's about 10 feet from her door to the laundry room).
Lastly, Alan had a lot of fun "roping". He likes to take the string from his yo-yo and wrap it around a Hot Wheel car. I ended up tying the string to the bumper of this one car to make it stay better. He had fun driving the car around the apartment. He also draped the rope over a peg and was pulling it up and down. (Alan invented the term roping, not me). I liked seeing him use his imagination.
