Stuff du Jour

Surprise - we are having a company party this year. Same place as last year, spouses only if space permits (headcount limit apparently). Gave my MIL the date to keep free anyway. (DH's doesn't allow spouses - it would be hard to make it due to the location and day of the week anyway - he can make a Friday night in NYC).
Meanwhile cost cutting at work, has caused them to stop stocking the kitchens with hot chocolate packets. We still have tea, coffee and soda and junk food vending machines - so I guess it's not THAT bad.
The McDonalds downstairs has a sign limiting the triple cheeseburger special to 4 per customer per visit (defined as every 2 hours). I have no idea who would even want that many triple cheeseburgers?
Went to a literacy tips for kindergarten parents workshop hosted by a 1st grade teacher and reading specialist. It was interesting. Not too many parents were there, I knew a few of them. One mom was talking about her son's refusal to do homework - I know her son - he's one of Alan's friends and I can see him being stubborn like that. It was kind of funny (but I didn't laugh publically). The first grade teacher who gave it is in the classroom Alan was in when he was in the disabled pre-k program (rooms have been switched). It felt odd to be back there. She has been there a long time. She said there is a 1st grade teacher this year who had had *her* as a teacher and felt the presenter inspired her to be a teacher. That's kind of amazing.
The car was gone this AM, so I am pretty sure the buyer did come back with the plates. It's off the insurance now - and hopefully did make to the buyer's home in Queens. (Not that I wanted to rip anyone off, but I wouldn't have driven it that far with the way it ran.)
