I'm sort of surprised your friend's trying to give away a cat she just found yesterday without trying to find out if it belongs to someone first. Especially a cat so well-adjusted to people and other animals. I left a comment on there suggesting taking the cat to a vet or shelter just to have them check for a chip. I can't imagine that cat doesn't already have a good home that it just got away from.
