Despite the fact we usually lean politically the other way, I kind of agree with you on Kennedy.
Many many years ago (1994), my ex and I happened upon the Mass Democratic state convention in Worcester. He started yelling Chappaquidick at the very young Kennedy supporters on the street from up in the parking garage. I think they had NO clue what that was about. (It was still history to us, but we'd learned it somewhere).
I had the impression that Byrd was seated close to Kennedy, and his concerned reaction to Kennedy's seizure was misinterpreted as a medical emergency of his own.
