I'm beginning to think my work project named Storm is aptly named. No, it doesn't have anything wrong with it - it just seems to attract bad weather :) I expect to be working from home tommorrow.

We are down another co-worker at work. No, not a layoff, someome leaving to start a new business venture - a restaurant. He's not given too many details -- I think he's afraid of his Q/A colleagues testing out the place like the software we do at work <g>

Today was one of those recycle technology days. DH lost his T-Mobile pre-paid phone. I took my previous T-mobile regular phone to the store to see if he could use that. For the cost of a new SIM card he's all set, even with the same # and saved minutes. I did remove my customizations - he really wouldn't want a pink background graphic. All he does with the phone is call, I'm the one who uses them as tech toys.

I also had to hook up a new printer for DH - new to him - an Epson 860 that was in the family. (His Epson C88+ printer is now feeding paper crookedly, not good for materials sent on behalf of clients). So I set up and the piece that keeps the paper straight in the back is missing and some other weird plastic thingie is in the box. Managed to improvise with the paper straight thing from the Epson and asked my MIL if she had the other piece - apparently she's got it in her Panasonic Fax to keep paper straight! I'll swap everything back next time I go over there! Meanwhile I found a pile of cartridges for the printer/scanner my SIL no longer has, I'll put those on eBay one of these days.

I'm definitely the family techie. Last Sunday I put a cartridge in my MIL's fax, installed the latest Microsoft patch in her PC too - managed somehow to set an AOL firewall to keep her off line with IE (I didn't know this was why, I thought her cable internet was down) - I ended up getting that resolved by calling her cable provider Comcast. I was impressed - I did not speak to someone with an Indian accent - and they helped fix the issue via remote access. I still have to get that patch on DH's PC and the little used laptop. (Laptops that are unplugged and hidden in a briefcase can't get too many viruses though!)

DH took tommorrow off and hopefully I can work in relative peace if Alan has no school. DH won't be any trouble if it's just him. I kind of miss the days we had our PC's adjacent to each other and worked. Someday if we ever get a 3bedroom house, I hope we can have an office again.

Speaking of houses we saw some intriguingly low cost houses around - in our town (may be small), one in a nearby town. We've made inquries with no response yet- maybe for investment. I kind of like it here, except for needing 1 more room. And I'd like to keep Alan in school here as I like the school and he's doing well. I'm sure whatever happens, this will be better than our last Pocono's adventure over Xmas. I didn't blog it then, but I managed to get DH's car stuck in a snow covered ditch. No harm done, but snowy hilly places that you need 4 wheel drive are not for us right now.
