Notice it is straight up and down the East Coast - more or less.
1) The states between North Carolina and Florida (South Carolina and Georgia) were only driven through on a car trip to Florida from NY in the 1970's. All of the other east coast states were actual destinations on some trip or another.
2) I changed planes in Detroit airport flying to Florida once.
3) I changed planes in Cincinatti airport (which is in Kentucky) once. I think it was the same round trip as I changed in Detroit due to weird airfares at the time.
4) I flew to Chicago to visit a friend who had moved to Napierville in 1979.
5) DH and I went to Martinsburg West Virgina once to visit a now defunct client of his.
I definitely need to head west. The youngest of Alan's six second cousins is getting bat mitzvahed next year. The family lives in California. Hopefully we can go. (This is my cousin whose ex-wife has gotten a TV career in advice shows as a psycologist.)

Date: 2009-11-06 04:36 pm (UTC)I tell you, I had to gasp when I saw your map. I've driven all over this great United States and just can't imagine what it would be like to never have seen it. Then again, I know people who have never left the county they were born. I'm just a traveling fool I guess lol I hope that you are able to go to the wedding in California and can spend a day taking a tour of the countryside while you are there.
