Typical busy weekend.
Went shopping with my SIL while DH did some research for her. Alan was a very good boy, and even picked out and outfit for himself. My SIL held up an orange rebook outfit which he smiled at, so I got it in his size. Nothing else the rest of the day got that reaction either for us or him!

Today we got up early and went to the Englishtown, NJ flea market. Found some neat stuff there, size 4 stride rite shoes and an Elmo's World tape for Alan, whole wheat pasta (got 18 boxes at .20 cents each, nothing wrong with it) and some juice/drinks. Then we stopped at Old Country Buffet and Alan had bits of this and that, including vanilla ice cream. Then we drove home.

I was on the Garden State Parkway in the far left lane near a bridge and with the concrete divider bewtween both directions with Alan and DH sleeping. All of sudden there was a bang, I thought I had fallen asleep hit something. Got the car to a stop, DH and Alan woke up, smelled burned rubber and I was very upset. Called 911, none of us were hurt at all. Turns out the left front tire blew out somehow. Police got us to the side of the road and dispatched a tow truck to put the donut spare on (the police man was nice enough to check the back of the car, leaving our stroller out on the side of the car. Tow truck came, we all sat in the tow truck cab while it was being changed, listening to rap/hip hop (Alan didn't mind, I think one of the day providers kids listens to it...) The tow truck guy was nice enough to put the stroller back when he was done and we start to leave, but couldn't get the emergency break off. So we called the tow place from the # on the receipt, and they came back and unstuck the emergency brake. Alan was amazingly good during this - he didn't like being stuck in the car when we were wating and did cry when I was freaking out, but he could have been a lot worse. (We were very fortunate that all that happened was one very flat tire, no car damage or even worse people hurt.)

We actually found a tire store open on the way home from there, and got the tire replaced and the temporary spare put back. DH also got an oil change while there.

Came home, had a little wine, gave Alan dinner (gerber makes awful macaroni and cheese, the stage 3 dinner with it is lousy in both Alan's and my opinions). He was happier eating bits of american cheese and graduates baby carrot bits.) Then I had DH hold him for a bit while I went to get a load of laundry in. He fell asleep on DH's lap in the oddest position. Now DH is lying with him on the futon and I think they are both asleep. So much for the bath I wanted to give Alan tonight :(

Wow. Quite the adventure!

We were never happy with the Gerber foods at all. We ended up just going with bits of what we were eating. The only one that seemed any good was the graduates veggies, and those were in waaay too big containers for our little bird.

Wow, how scary for you!
Phoebe doesn't really care for the gerber mac and cheese either. She doesn't really like any of the babyfood at all so I've taken to just throwing whatever we eat in the blender for her.

I'm so glad y'all are o.k. Blow-outs can be bad news!

Oh, and I agree on the Gerber deal. I pretty much feed Katie whatever we're eating now. Just mush or chop it up.

Tire blowouts are very scary - it's very fortunate you weren't hurt!
