Today REM was singing "Furry Happy Monsters" to the tune of "Shiney Happy People". I wonder if it is on a CD somewhere.

Furry Happy Monsters
performed by R.E.M. and Assorted Monsters
to the tune of R.E.M.'s "Shiny Happy People"

(The song is done exactly as their original tune with some lines overlapping others. I started to seperate and label everything but it looked awful so I'm leaving it in this "pure" form :-) I also decided to leave out the "actions" which is basically the monsters laughing and jumping around or crying in the appropriate lines. Watching the fun Michael Stipe has with this one confirmed it for me, he IS a muppet! Points for making a way cool female muppet that looks just like Kate Pierson of the B52's. She sang on the original.)

Furry happy monsters laughing
Monsters having fun
Happy, happy
See them jump and run
Happy, happy
Laughing all the while
Cheerful, cheerful
Flashing a big smile
That's a perfect sign
That they're feeling fine

Furry, happy monsters feeling glad
Furry, happy monsters feeling glad
Furry, happy monsters laughing

Something has gone wrong
Sighing, sighing
Faces have turned long
Crying, crying
Hear them sob and whine
Tearful, tearful
That's a real good sign
That they're feeling glum
Sad, sad times have come

Furry sobbing monsters feeling sad
Furry sobbing monsters feeling sad
Furry sobbing monsters crying

Michael Stipe (spoken): Come on, monsters! You don't have to cry, we can be happy!

Furry happy monsters feeling glad
Furry happy monsters feeling glad
Furry happy monsters laughing
Furry sobbing monsters feeling sad
Furry sobbing monsters feeling sad
Furry sobbing monsters crying
Furry happy monsters feeling glad
Furry happy monsters feeling glad
Furry happy monsters laughing
Monsters, happy monsters
Happy monsters
Monsters, happy monsters
Happy monsters
Monsters, happy monsters
Happy monsters

Little known (and highly classified) fact...I loved Sesame Street so much as a kid that I watched it until I was like 10...so I'm secretely looking forward to watching it again. ;-)

Sesame street has some great celebrity cameos! Patrick Stewart doing his "A B, or Not a B" is great but I still think my favorite is the Opera singer, who's name escapes me at the moment, and Elmo doing a rewrite of the Toreodor song from Carmen!

I believe, back in the day, that Stevie Wonder performed "Superstition" on Sesame Streen once.

By the way, I forget if it is you or Kim that likes Joe Jackson. We got the Volume 4 CD the other day and its really good (my DH is a long time Joe Jackson fan).
