15 degrees
Feb. 5th, 2007 10:51 pmIt's cold. Not as cold it has been but cold. We had a mellow weekend. Bought more books @ the library book sale on Saturday. Then our friend Cliff came over and he and Mark (and I later) tried to figure out how to replace the broken light on the shift console in Mark's Geo. End result was that we got the 3.00 bulb, BUT couldn't get the stupid plastic cover off. We had to search the net to find some instructions - I guess it's one of those parts that you aren't supposed to replace, but realistically getting rid of a car over a lightbulb? Hopefully Cliff can stop by again before he goes back to California till May. (He leave Saturday)
Then I went to Shoprite and Mark managed to get Alan to take a nap which was good. Then we went with my MIL to visit my SIL. Alan was very good there, he played with his Hot Wheels and didn't watch TV. (My SIL has wood and fake wood floors that are great for toy cars). When we got home it was time for "Naked Brothers Band" on Nick which Alan likes (or has been trained to from the commercials). It's kind of like a jr. Partridge Family - two brothers (not naked) and friend who have a band. The brothers are 13 and 10, and actually act more kid like than in some shows. And the music isn't bad.
Alan and I also made instant pudding - he had made it in school on Friday and talked about it a lot. So I made vanilla in 1 bowl, chocolate in another and then I layered them in cups (next time don't use 16 oz ones) and put marshmellows on top - Alan said his class used gummy fruit, but that sounded icky to me). He ate a little, Mark and I did and liked it (but we skipped the marshmellows).
Alan always gets more verbal before bed. When he was little you could even get him to sing. Saturday night he started doing Knock Knock jokes (not good ones, but a start - we made up some bad ones back!)
Sunday was very mellow. The excitement of our day was to venture to Shoprite. Afterwards Alan was watching Thomas the Tank Engine. Mark and I were doing random stuff. Then we noticed Alan was quiet. Very quiet. He had fallen asleep!
Sunday I also managed to get him to sit on the potty for the first time ever. With a potty seat. He wasn't happy, but when I got him on it again tonight it went better. Hopefully we can start getting him to do #2 there. (He stands for #1).
Alan's newest TV show that he likes is Dinosaurs (the old 90's series). It is funny/sick. He likes it before bed. Otherwise he loves the Hot Wheels movies. Funny how the Barbie movies get run on Nick when they come out - but I've never seen the Hot Wheels movies really promoted. Wonder why? (They are both cheaper animated direct to DVD movies).
I got to work late today because of the @)!# bus. It runs late and the driver goes slow. So I stayed till 6:30 tonight. NYC was kind of quiet when I left due to the cold. I thought about taking a taxi to the bus, but it was too cold to hail (flag down) one. So I walked.
Hopefully the rest of my photos will upload soon so I can print them (@York Photo) and then crash. I feel like I may have a cold coming on, blech.
