Blogging before I get Alan up and start another work week. We are supposed to go camping with these folks this weekend - but I'm watching Ernesto in case it heads to the North and West once it hits the coastline.
I am the happy owner of new bedroom furniture. Saturday I got up and went over to it's previous owners house to supervise the van being loaded up. On the way I stopped at a freecycler's house to get some toys for Alan. She had multiple bags out for different people - I recognized one bag as tagged for someone I know in the local mom's group! There was a tag sale going on while I waited for the van to show up. The tag sale organizer priced everything much higher (the entertainment center we passed up was 1000.00) I guess to cover her profit. I did get a brass trivet (useful) and a measuring cup. Most of the other stuff was lovely, but dust collectors for us! The van came, the furniture was loaded and back home we came. Old furniture was carried out (it was the set my dad gave me money for when I left my ex in 1996), new was brought in. We had to move a mirror to use the mirror on the dresser and the movers did that for us. It turned out pretty well, it looks like it's always been there.
Then we went over to family fun day at the park. Not as crowded as usual (gray weather?) but I did see 2 librarians from the town that I knew. Alan had much bouncy fun - he even made it to the top of the bouncy obsticle course. Then we went to get Mark and Alan haircuts. No luck with Alan but the barber gave Mark a nice haircuit. I may have to go back to the kids place with Alan. It's actually not much more (20.00 vs. 14.00 at the barber).
We then went to the condo pool party. Nice BBQ (hotdogs and burgers) with the fixings (except pickles) - and lots of desserts. As someone said, it's hard to recognize people in their regular clothes after seeing them in swim suits. Alan had a good time. He and I then went to watch Thomas and the Magic Railroad at home. We were going to the park for the fireworks, but as we walked out, a LOUD one went off (way ahead of time) and scared Alan. I decided it was best to get out of here for a bit, so we went to Target then came home. Alan and Mark were watching TV by the time the full display went off which seemed extra loud this year!
Yesterday started off with a run to Shoprite (where Alan stayed in the cart and was helpful putting things on the cash register belt). Then after lunch we drove in a downpour to Walmart and got the oil changed in Mark's car. Picked up a few things there and then went next door to Sam's Club. At Sam's we got lots of samples but didn't buy anything. Alan surprised us by remembering the playhouse that had been on display the last time we went (months ago). Came home - Alan didn't nap so he was very cranky by the end of the day. We did manage to get him to use the potty ONCE, but after that he just got himself wet :(
I've put most of my stuff back in the new dressers but need to put away my huge mixed up jumble of jewelery. I did a lot of decluttering as I put other stuff back - there's a pile for Goodwill, a bunch of junque (keychains and other nighttable drawer junk) for freecycling, and old eyeglasses for New Eyes for The Needy (I found ones from the 80's!) We have to figure out what to do with the TV though. It sat on Mark's dresser - but is too big for the new triple dresser. Since we aren't going to get an LCD TV, I think we will get a cart on wheels and pull it out if we want to watch in bed.
