From [livejournal.com profile] allye

1. Who is your favorite singer/musician? Why?

I like Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi ... the typical stuff for a NY/NJ rocker I guess.

2. What one singer/musician can you not stand? Why?

Rod Stewart. It's one of those can't explain it things.

3. If your favorite singer wasn't in the music business, do you think you would still like him/her as a person?

Probably Billy, Bruce, and Jon BonJovi are pretty down to earth people.

4. Have you been to any concerts? If yes, who put on the best show?

Big arena concerts: Men At Work/Fleetwood Mac (1982), Elton John (1984) Rush (1987) - my ex was a Rush fan, (I bet [livejournal.com profile] thorswitch didn't know I saw Rush live) Bette Middler (2001)). I've been to some smaller ones at music festivals. In 2002, Hall and Oates put on an excellent show at a Balloon Festival. And at Musikfest in Bethlehem, PA we saw a great show by Huey Lewis and the News in 2001 also. And this year we enjoyed an Austrialian band there called Fruit. And there is our "cult" favorite - "Zen For Primates". I had tickets for Elton John/Billy Joel in 2002, but had to cancel as the show was rescheduled shortly before I was due with Alan :(. I still have the concert T shirt from Fleetwood Mac - it was *only* 12.00!

5. What are your thoughts on downloading free music online vs. purchasing albums? Do you feel the RIAA is right in its pursuit to stop people from dowloading free music?

Never got into the download thing as I used to just have dialup. We ended up checking out CD's from our library and copying them. We have web access to the county system and its catalogue - so we find stuff on-line, reserve it, borrow it, "listen" and return it. We do listen before copying as there are a few we just returned. I did make a point of buying the CD of Fruit - the Austrialian band above, not just because our library WON'T have it, but that they needed the support! I think the RIAA is going too far.

I hate Rod Stewart for no logical reason, too. Maybe he just gets on people's nerves.

OK, Men at Work in concert *with* Fleetwood Mac? Now there's an odd thought.

They were the opening act. This was the early 80s when Men at Work was big.

I like some of his older stuff.. but he's just kinda ugly. And that hair. Ugh. I think that's my problem with him. ;)

Oh, and Leslie, we do that exact same thing with our library's CDs! ;)

*jealous* ;)

Someday I will upgrade to one of those.. But sadly, money doesn't allow for those sort of things. We have a CD burner now, that was given to me by a friend last year. ;)

We are jealous also :) Fortunately he's a very good friend.

Too cool! Did you enjoy them? :) That would have been their "Hold Your Fire" album tour, IIRC - that was a pretty good show, though I think the "Roll the Bones" tour was probably my favourite of the ones I've seen (there've been 5).

I did. That was only the third concert I'd seen - all 3 of which were in the Worcester (MA) Centrum which was built in the early 80's.
