From [livejournal.com profile] allye

1. Who is your favorite singer/musician? Why?

I like Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi ... the typical stuff for a NY/NJ rocker I guess.

2. What one singer/musician can you not stand? Why?

Rod Stewart. It's one of those can't explain it things.

3. If your favorite singer wasn't in the music business, do you think you would still like him/her as a person?

Probably Billy, Bruce, and Jon BonJovi are pretty down to earth people.

4. Have you been to any concerts? If yes, who put on the best show?

Big arena concerts: Men At Work/Fleetwood Mac (1982), Elton John (1984) Rush (1987) - my ex was a Rush fan, (I bet [livejournal.com profile] thorswitch didn't know I saw Rush live) Bette Middler (2001)). I've been to some smaller ones at music festivals. In 2002, Hall and Oates put on an excellent show at a Balloon Festival. And at Musikfest in Bethlehem, PA we saw a great show by Huey Lewis and the News in 2001 also. And this year we enjoyed an Austrialian band there called Fruit. And there is our "cult" favorite - "Zen For Primates". I had tickets for Elton John/Billy Joel in 2002, but had to cancel as the show was rescheduled shortly before I was due with Alan :(. I still have the concert T shirt from Fleetwood Mac - it was *only* 12.00!

5. What are your thoughts on downloading free music online vs. purchasing albums? Do you feel the RIAA is right in its pursuit to stop people from dowloading free music?

Never got into the download thing as I used to just have dialup. We ended up checking out CD's from our library and copying them. We have web access to the county system and its catalogue - so we find stuff on-line, reserve it, borrow it, "listen" and return it. We do listen before copying as there are a few we just returned. I did make a point of buying the CD of Fruit - the Austrialian band above, not just because our library WON'T have it, but that they needed the support! I think the RIAA is going too far.

So I'm at work today. Isabelle didn't do much here, just some flickering lights at 12:30-1AM per DH.
My boss predicted it would be nothing :( I wanted to work from home, drat!

Last night Alan had chinese food (chicken with string beans, rice - and the roast pork from my wonton soup - I couldn't get him to take any soup from the spoon). He also held his own bottle (I got one of the ANSA bottles with the "hole" in it - but changed the nipple to a silicon one, I don't like latex). He sleep through the night till 7. 3x this week he's slept through - but those are days when he gets little/no nap. Wish it were all the time.

Inky's STILL in the bathroom. I hope we can find her a home soon. I want to be able to use the bathtub and stop bathing Alan in the kitchen sink :(

This weekend looks busy - townwide garage sale in a nearby town Sautrday, and the Hoboken fall festival on Sunday. and nice weather for both! We are also meeting an accquaintance of DH's Sat night. He's a bit flaky, so we agreed to meet him in a nearby ice cream place. If its weird, we'll claim Alan's bedtime and go home, if not we can walkaround a bit afterwards. (Yes, Alan's coming, he loves his ice cream!)

You are The Cabin Boy

You, me lad, are an activist! You will not only change the world, you will make a dyed-in-the-wool Pirate dream of you in a sheep costume. You are the embodiment of the love that dare not hoist its sail! Ahoy thar! You could make a two-patch Pirate turn his head - but then he would lose sleep over it and what good would that do anyone? An innovator, you are WAY ahead of your time - and everyone else's. You are sensitive and artsy-fartsy. You say things like, "artsy-fartsy" but there is always a slight giggle in your voice when you say it - like Paul Lynde on Hollywood Squares delivering a staggering punch line. Speaking of "punching" the only "punching" you would do is punching up that outfit with some accessories - say, a little bandana and some glass beads. You're not the Pirate we want in a fight, but we want you there for the crying game that follows! You go, girl.

What's Yer Inner Pirate?
brought to you by The Official Talk Like A Pirate Web Site. Arrrrr!

Actually, Talk Like A Pirate Day makes me think of Pirate Parties at Shore Leave (a Maryland science-fiction convention). Those were interesting....but a whole day of said party would be exhausting - picture a hotel room with a tub acting as a beer cooler ... people chugging pixie sticks and an ajoining hotel room with the furniture cleared or on end and a DJ station setup! They say they use that hotel for security training! (Actually the convention has been there many years and sells out the place every time!)
