Every year here, the supermarkets have a deal - spend so much $ (tracked by a loyalty card, not reciepts) and get a free turkey (or frozen veggie lasagna to be politically correct).

Usually we earn a turkey and give it to my MIL for Thanksgiving dinner.

This year, she earned her own. And then DH and I each earned our own from our grocery spending. (We'll take turns getting groceries and we have seperate loyalty card accounts)

Because we are going to my cousin's and my MILs for 2 seperate Thanksgivings, we don't need a turkey. Even the veggie lasagna is too big for our freezer to use later.

So DH was calling our friends tonight (the last night) to see if anyone could use a turkey or two.

Our friend Cliff just called back, so DH went off with him to Shoprite! (It's 5 minutes from us).

You could always offer the spare to a charity to add to a family's basket for Christmas, or bring it to the loal soup kitchen! We had a similar problem one year when we got a turkey from hubbys work and from my parents and I had already bought one! I was sick to death of turkey that year!

Would have

I probably would have, if it wasn't the night before.

Turns out they were sold out of the small turkeys, so our friend got 2 20lbs turkeys for free!
