Saturday we went to visit Mark's uncle and his so. They have an open house for Xmas and 4 of her 5 kids came (the 5th's in florida), assorted grandchildren, relatives, neighbors and friends. Just Mark, I and Alan went - my SIL didn't want to come and my MIL had a previous commitment. But we all had a good time. Alan had SLEEP in the car (its a 2.5 hour ride to CT), so he was in a great mood. Alan fed himself - he ate a lot of cucumbers, melon and pickles and other assorted things. He learned how to climb a flight of stairs - and insisted on doing so several times. He found the doors to the TV stand (and kitchen counter) and opened those many times - who needs toys when there are doors!

My cookies were a hit (the Nestle Tollhouse cookie recipe, made in a pan using the holiday red/green/chocolate bits and minus the nuts). Elaine (uncle's SO) has two grandchildren close to his age - 1 older about 2 1/2 and one younger 8 months. I held the 8 month old for a while. He was cuddlier than Alan was, but it was so strange to have to hold the bottle. I told his Dad (they have 4 kids + 2 foster ones), I wasn't keeping him - sorry :)

When we left we forgot the digital camera so we had to turn back after a bit. It was odd because we'd brought with us their camera they'd left at my MILs at thanskgiving. Alan slept the whole way home including the detour for the camera There was some very confusing traffic patterns coming back exiting 287 to go to the Tapan Zee bridge, glad I don't go that way very often, it was dangerous being tired and nighttime :(

This morning I was ambitious again. Made pancakes from scratch using a recipie I found in my Good Housekeeping Cookbook. We ate frozen veggies and potatoes for lunch though. No idea what dinner will be. Mark ordered a new coffee maker (he broke my carafe in the dishwasher) and a nice skillet from Amazon. I ordered a child's storage bin from Target - no shipping so why not order it. I wonder if I will make it to work tommorrow. My boss, who is AT the Jet game said he was taking the day off to recover. Right now Mark and Alan are napping - I gave Alan benadryl for his sniffles - hopefully the 99.3 temperature won't turn into anything serious. (I hope Mark gets up and vacuums, but I don't count on it.)
