1) What's your favorite summer drink?
I like iced coffee (dunkin donuts french vanilla) or iced tea (diet peach snapple). Or fresh squeezed lemonade or even a cola slurpee.
2) What do you think are the biggest pros and cons of being a later in
life mom?
More time to learn about life, more patience (sometimes), a more family friendly life style even before the baby (pros)
Being older than Alan's future classmates parents (although I look younger), worrying about retirement and college, less energy (cons)
3) Jersey or Joy-zee?
Jersey. I'm not a native, I was born in New Yark!
4) If cost were not a problem, what kind of car would you drive?
I like my current 1995 Sunrise Red (pink) Ford Escort hatchback. But it has 2 doors. I'd drive something in a neat color (no boring beige Camrys) with 4 doors and a useful hatchback :) We rented a 2003 Ford Focus in Florida and I really liked it.
5) If you had the spare time and money, what hobby would you take up or
do more of?
Crafts of some sort or I'd have a horse to ride.

1 - What is the best movie you've seen so far this year?
This year in the theatre...none so far. On DVD, Curse of the Jade Scorpion by Woody Alan.
2 - What is your favorite breed of cat?
Maine Coon or Norwegian Forest Cat (long hairs without the fuss of a persian). I'd love a black Maine Coon someday.
3 - What is your favorite food dish?
Oh, I have a lot of them..Pasta of any kind or Chinese are my favorites :)
4 - What are five things your parents did with you as a child that you wouldn't even think of doing today?
Have cocktails (vodka on the rocks).
Smoke in front of me.
Be over protective (my mom).
Put me in a car with black vinyl seats (owwww..we did use towels)
Argue in front of me.
Despite the above list there are good things my parents did despite their bad marriage and my mom's problems: take me on trips, send me to sleepaway camp, be involved in my education (school board, PTA) pay for college, and encourage me to read.
5 - If you suddenly became wealthy, what would your new house look like?
Probably a tudor or victorian - definitely a house with character. At least 3/4 bedrooms - one for us, one for Alan and guest bedroom/office, or we'd have a seperate office with a place for DH's keyboard. At least 2 baths, both with nice bathubs maybe a Jacuzzi for 2. Storage space and big closets. A space for the cats to call their own (away from DH's allergies). Built in bookshelves (I think they are cool). Nice sized kitchen. Central air. Central Vaccuum. Nice size yard - so I could use a riding mower for fun. A place to plant tomatoes. Maybe even a pool or tennis court (for DH). It would all be networked and wired for music in all the rooms.

1) Is being a mom anything like what you expected it would be?
No. Alan needs more time than I expected, and my heart has grown several sizes as he gets bigger :)
2) Do you think you'll have more children? Why or why not?
I'd like to as I don't want Alan an only child and would like a little girl also. But finances and biology (I'm 41 now) may dictate the choice. Fortunately I didn't require intervention to conceive Alan, but that could have been just a lucky thing.
3) If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?
Either the Boston area , Pennsylvannia Dutch Country or Toronto. I liked Massachusetts and New Hampshire when I lived there (1980-1990), the Dutch country is just very safe (no one bother the Amish) and Toronto is just a clean city.
4) What is the one quality you admire most in your husband?
His loyal friendships with many people which has formed our "gang" or second family.
5) If you had a chance to live your life all over again, what one decision would you change?
Probably have visited my mom in the hospital before she died. We'd been estranged over my marriage to my ex, but didn't realize she was that ill based on the hospital information I got. I was going to go the next day but didn't get a chance. It's hard to believe she's been gone 10 years in November and my dad one year this past March. Both would have loved Alan (my dad did get to see me marry Mark and know I was pregnant with Alan, but only guessed he was a boy, before we knew.)

1. What are some of the things you enjoy most about where you live?
I'm near NYC for the things I have to do (work, visit Grandmother, see a show or a museum), but far enough away to have a surburban life (malls, parks, yards). I'm close to Paramus where every store known to mankind is (except a Fry's) and with easy access to all the major inter/intrastate roads.
2. What's your fondest hope for Alan in the next year? In his life?
In the next year, I want Alan to stay as social and easy going as he is and survive any parental mistakes. In his life, I want him to go to college, get a job he likes and be successful and loved.
3. If you could create your dream job, what would it look like? Hours, activity, structure...?
Well, my dream job would NOT be in NYC. I'd like it close to home (or at home), flexible hours - probably as few as possible, but 9 to 5 would work for me. Activity-something computer related, not necessarilly Q/A. Structure - a friendly boss, friendly peers or perhaps work on my own but with an eye on me so I do work and NOT play all day :(
4. What are some of the things you like most about your DH?
He's financially secure, has a good sense of humor, is musically talented, very social and has a loyal network of friends.
5. When you're looking back, twenty years from now, what do you hope you'll be able to say about yourself during this time?
That Alan, Mark and I all survived his infant and toddler years :)

1. How is the wee one doing!
Alan at 8 months is doing well. He eats well, tries to crawl, makes lots of noises, goes to sleep easily now (all night...its being worked on, he usually winds up with me nursing still.) and is a happy baby. He seems to do well at music festivals including the Portugese festival we went to yesterday.
2. How do you feel about being a mother?
It isn't what I expected, but I love my son very much.
3. What's the weather like out there?
It's finally stopped raining. Its supposed to be 80 degrees Farenheit tommorrow but rain for Wednesday and Friday.
4. How did you come across Livejournal?
Several people on my women30s (women in their 30s) e-mail list were on it and posting more here than there. One member
kimatha met her husband
samhamm via a comment he made in her journal.
5. Where is the weirdest place you've visited?
I can't think of any. I guess one of the most different places is the Portugese Festival. We have a Portguese friend who told us about it. Portguese food is very good - bbqed chicken and pork and yummy baked goods.
