Weekend Update

- Sunday
Alan had his 9 month appointment. 22 lbs and 28 1/4 inches - 75% for weight and 50-60% for height.
Doctor (who hadn't seen him since 2 month checkup) was impressed at his growth spurt.
Alan was very friendly at his checkup ... it went very smoothly :)
We then had lunch at MIL's and then came home. Later that night a friend came over and I started to work on the smaller of the 2 Ikea bookcases I bought last Sunday. As I took it apart to correct the mistake I made (I always make 1 mistake somewhere in assembling furniture) the top piece broke. So I had to go back to Ikea at 7:30 at night - didn't get back till after 9. By that time Alan was in bed, so I couldn't finish it (hammering would wake Alan). I also had laundry that needed to be put away that had to wait also (Alan was asleep in the bedroom).
Also, before Alan's checkup we went to Stop and Shop for DH to get his .99 a lb cherries. We put Alan in one of those cute carts shaped like a truck, but he's really too little for it. He kind of lounged on the seat after a while, but still seemed to enjoy himself.
Went to my grandmother's today. I managed to forget his bottle, but fortunately this being Manhattan, there was a nearby CVS to get a bottle. So now he has an Ansa open shaped bottle - it looks like a circle. Alan surprised me by drinking from the icky latex nipple of it - but I'll replace it with a silicon one.
My grandmother does not like animals, especially cats. She had bought Alan a stuffed animal as a present. She was going bow wow with it - but it was a cat! She said there was a dog and a cat, and she'd gotten the dog. I didn't correct her, but DH and I had a laugh later. (No, she's still sharp as a tack at 94, I guess she just goofed.) Alan ate tons of stuff today - we gave him tiny samples of everything: bread+butter, fruit, a tiny bit of coleslaw, cheese omlet, bacon, mashed potatoes, olive, gardenia, hummus on a cracker, chopped liver on a cracker (I don't think he liked the last one), and vanilla icecream (he loves this!). He also had a big bottle in the afternoon and ate 4 oz plums with apples and a 6oz jar of oatmeal+apples for dinner and 3 oz of forumula (plus a little nursing in the afternoon). He must be having a growth spurt!
Tonight, I inflated the inflatable tub I bought for Alan. Tried to bathe him in it - I wasn't able to bathe with him tonight. He was very wiggly and he ended up on his back in the tub and then he flipped over and was trying to get out. He was ok, but crying (I think he got soap in his eyes). DH doesn't like the clutter of the inflatable tub, so I guess I'll deflate it for a while until he sits better.
Alan's now contentedly sleeping in his crib ... wonder what he's dreaming about.
