When I got to work this AM my phone rang. Since I rarely get calls at work, I freaked a little, but it was DH just calling to find out if we found out what happened.

From talking to Nadia, it appears he fell forward out of the seat on to the floor (the tray wasn't secured somehow) His teeth broke apparently because he hit his head on the tray. I think we will get a new high chair (NOT GRACO, even though his was an older one) this weekend.

1. What time do you wake up on weekday mornings?
Usually between 5:30 and 6:30 (when the alarm goes off)

2. Do you sleep in on the weekends? How late?
sort of. I try to go back to sleep with Alan till 8 or so. It doesn't always work.

3. Aside from waking up, what is the first thing you do in the morning?
Hug baby Alan and realize I HAVE to get up and GO to the bathroom.

4. How long does it take to get ready for your day?
on weekdays too long (cause of Alan and my laziness). I get up, wake DH in the other bedroom if he's not up dress Alan and give him his vitamins. Then I check my mail with Alan and after a bit, stick him in the living room exersaucer and put on sesame street. I read mail some more, and eventually take a shower and get dressed. I go in the living room to comb my hair and get Alan out of the exersaucer, pack my pump up and pack any pumped milk I have - then load up with Alan, his bag, the pump backpack and my purse and go off to daycare. When my DH works from home I get a break and don't have to take Alan, but am still lazy and don't get out of the house earlier.

(I have no idea what I will do with Alan while I shower when he outgrows the exersaucer. Maybe by then we will be in a bigger house and he will have a safe play area. Or I'll get a pack and play???)

5. When possible, what is your favorite place to go for breakfast?
Usually don't go out for breakfast. We usually go out for lunch (chinese buffet) or dinner. (this was even pre-baby.)

News Meme

Got this off a list I'm on. Thought these were good questions.

1. What international news story are you paying
attention to right now?

I guess I'm following the iraq mess and north korea.

2. What national news story are you paying attention to right now?

The Kobe Byrant case.

3. What state news story are you paying attention to right now?

This maybe regional but I'm following the fate of the Meadowlands sports complex. I'm actually happy with the way it is now, since its 15 mintues away by a backroad. I'm not likely to go to Newark to see a concert or a sporting event. I also suspect the free Saturday flea market will close under new plans. I didn't like the new management they brought in to run the annual fair - they charged extra for concerts over the fair admission, so we didn't go.

4. What regional news story are you paying attention to right now?

The fate of the John Harms Center in Englewood. This was a small performing arts venue where my MIL volunteer ushered. It was non-for-profit and was shut down because it owed too much $ to Fleet Bank. A new group wants to take over and may do so by the fall. My MIL got to see many shows this way (and DH and I got guest tickets sometimes) and she misses it. We figured we could get guest tickets to kids shows (except probably the Wiggles) for Alan.

5. What local news story are you paying attention to right now?

The return of family fun day to Little Ferry. they bring in rides, a tiny flea market and have a concert and fireworks. They sell .25 cent hot dogs and soda (donated by Shoprite). It wasn't held last year. This year we figure it will be fun to bring Alan to. I've also been watching them rebuild the little fishing pier in the park (they stock this man made pond).

6. What neighborhood news story are you paying attention to right now?

The price of the condos in our complex. They are going way up as well as housing prices in Bergen county. We hope they start to drop when rates rise - DH paid 116K for our place in 1992, even at 170 (instead of the inflated 220K or so some sold for) we'd be ahead. And hopefully nice houses will drop into the 350-360K range DH thinks is reasonable.

7. What personal news story are you paying attention to right now
(In other words -- what's new with you)?

Alan's teeth as a result of his fall out of a high chair yesterday. We've gotten an appointment for a second opinion and are researching what to do about recuping any costs. However we are not changing daycare providers yet, we do think this was an unfortunate accident. Probably avoidable, but people do make mistakes. If the outcome were worse than lost teeth or this happened at a center, I think he would be NOT going back - right now we are in a wait and see and will replace the high chair he fell out of. (If we provide it then WE feel it is safe is our thinking.)

One thing I learned as a result of Alan's fall is to give your daycare provider a copy of any health insurance cards you have. She had authorization papers to take him to the hospital but they had to wait for me for the insurance stuff and to look at the teeth. When they copied the card at the hospital I had them give a copy to her for (god forbid) future use.

This looks like a really fun way to find new LJ friends once it works. Right now it's overused and swamped:
