Someone sent me an e-mail regarding the Texas school year and this site.
I live in NEW JERSEY, why was this sent to me.

I don't know where these people are from, but I don't remember school ever starting in September here.

Texas law mandates that schools be in session for 187 days. There are 196 week days between September 1 and June 1. That'd give you 9 days for vacation time. So you could get Thanksgiving, Friday after Thanksgivin, Christmas Eve and Christmas, Good Friday, MLK Day (cuz you're racisit if you don't get it off), New Years Day, + 2 additional days off.

I don't think so. Besides most parents are READY to get rid of their kids in mid-August, I know *I* am! :D

I remember late August, but never September. I *do* remember the year they didn't give us spring break and everyone was ready to die.

i don't remember that happening. what i think is weird is the fall break they give us in october (for the fair) after we have only been in school for a little more than two months.

We never got that. I just didn't go to school the 2 days of our stock show back home. :) 4-H ROCKS!

Thanks for sending that to me. I remember starting school in september right after labor day and now its the beginning of August. This year its august 14 for us which i believe is a Thursday. It makes no sense to me to begin school at the end of the week.

Some think that it eases the kids back into school by starting with a 2 or 3 day week before you hit the full 5 days. *shrug* School was school as far as I was concerned. :)
