Upset (vent, long)
Aug. 11th, 2003 08:49 amWe had a good weekend. But I am very upset this AM.
We've been having trouble with a cat peeing in the living room. I've been treating it, and hoping the problem would resolve. It didn't smell to good yesterday morning, we were gone all day and apparently it got worse. DH asked me to ask my cat internet lists for help - I kind of knew what they'd say, and Sunday is a slow net day for many people. I went to bed last night and about 15 minutes later DH woke me up as I was dozing off - he figured it out that it was Inky who as peeing and started complaining about it. I acknowledged the problem, treated as best I could around the living room and went back to sleep grumbling about being woken up. About an hour later DH woke me again all upest that the living room chair stunk. I was extremely grouchy and we argued a bit, waking Alan. I did treat the chair, but what h*ck could I do at 12:30 in the moring. It's just a chair, it could have waited - he didn't get the point at all - he didn't understand why I was so upset - it wasn't Inky it was the fact he WOKE me, and it was yet another problem he expected me to solve. You don't want someone 1/2 asleep messing with chemicals - and it isn't even a GREAT valuable chair, it came with the place 10 years ago.
Anyway, I wound up taking today OFF because I was still upset this AM. I'll take Inky to the vet today and see if there is any help. She's a very sweet cat, but kind of mixed up. Her parents were brother and sister and she tends to go wahhh for attention a lot. DH has cat allergies, so he can't stay around the cats too long and they are 1000% my responsibility (I had them before we were married). I don't want to give Inky away, she's 13 years old and deserves to be here. She needs more attention that she hasn't gotten since I went back to working in NYC 5 days a week. I don't think she's jealous of Alan, her little brain barely grasps the concept of herself sometimes. My other cat Moxie, has been very good about Alan. He'll sit right near him and purr and will let Alan pet him a bit. Moxie's idea of getting attention is to sit on the couch and purr when someone's on the couch. His main goal in life is his daily canned food.
I think my tears etc are a culmination of a lot of little gripes and grumbles. Everything from wanting to have a bigger house (which DH is being so stubborn about), having to commute 5 days a week to NYC to a job I was stuck taking after 9/11 with an extremely INFLEXIBLE work from home policy to DH being very work driven and me doing a great deal of work with Alan and Alan's accident etc...
Thanks for listening.
