Alan and I slept in today - we didn't get up till 8. I was up at 1:30, he was zonked, then around 5 he woke up and I took him in with me. We both had yummy thomas's cinamon waffles for breakfast. I think Alan left *one* crumb of his.

Alan had his flu shot this AM. I thought his appointment was 9:15 or 9:30. While getting ready I checked the appointment card - oops 9 AM. So I was trying to call the doctor to say I'd be 10 minutes late. First the phone was busy, then the headhunter I'm dealing with about tommorrows interview called. At first he thought because of my high voice I was a child. Sigh. So I told him I'd call later. (I did).

Alan was pretty good with the shot. I'd given him tylenol beforehand. I thought I could weigh and measure him while I was there, but since I was running late I skipped it. I did ask about his allergic reaction, the nurse suggested testing. Then we went to Target. There was a Santa there. He gave Alan a matchbox toy (I let him play with the package, I'll put it away as it is too little for him) and a candy cane (again for me, not him). Alan stared but wasn't afraid. He makes friends everywhere - even with some little kids playing at the drs office :)

Came home, made an appointment with the allergist (they're always asking about Alan, I said I wanted to bring Alan for a visit, not an appointment - but alas I have to - I didn't bring him with me before because I was afraid of illness at that office*). And now DH (who is working from home today) and Alan are napping. DH stayed up late working last night.

* I only brought Alan once to an appointment of mine. I brought him to the eye doctor when he was under 2 months old. I figured he wouldn't catch anything there - he wasn't mobile to touch things (so no risk of pinkeye) and vision problems aren't contagious. I was afraid of people with colds and flu at the allergist.

Macy's

I forgot if I mentioned our problems with Macy's last Saturday - we tried to use a $10.00 off your purchase coupon and Macy's was insisting you buy one item over 10.00, not 10.00 worth of stuff :(
After we got home from our disappointing experience DH e-mailed Macy's.
We got a call on Monday, but couldn't make it out as it sounded like a bad cell phone.
DH re-emailed them.
They called again today.
A Macys excutive said sorry for the inconvenience. We weren't alone complaining.
They installed smart coupons in the registers a few years ago and the program didn't work this year. They said the people didn't know how to
handle it since the registers didn't take coupons for sales <$10 or for more than 1 item totaling < or > $10 so they said you need to buy a single item $10 or more. (which is what happened to us, I've heard others were successful, it may have been handled differently at different stores?)

Because of the problems, they won't repeat the offer.

For our inconvenience, we a getting a $25 gift card and are getting overnighted
a 20% employee discount for employees and friends for this weekend.

We forgive Macy's :)

Afternoon

After lunch today Alan and I went for a ride.
I went to Goodwill, dropped off some stuff (but they were out of receipts). I tried to browse, but Alan was cranky - grabbed at stuff, cried in the shopping cart, tossed the Elmo book I gave him to look at and too heavy to hold. So I figured he needed a nap. I decided to take a drive to visit the consignment shop in Mahwah, NJ (about a 30 minute ride) I'd been meaning to checkout.

So I did, The store is The Children's Exchange. Everything was very nice and there was a lot of vintage (Ie older) gymboree for boys and girls in great condition. There even was a 1.00 rack. I bought one item (an older boys gymboree jacket) for 1.00 to eBay...shhh! I really wanted a snowsuit, but they didn't have the kind I wanted (fleece with folding hands/feet) in his size. Alan slept the whole time. He woke up when we went to Dunkin Donuts - I needed coffee. So I bought a crossaint for us to share.

On the way home I stopped at Kmart. I wanted a blanket, didn't like what they had. Ended up getting Alan a Sesame Street t-shirt and pants (since K-mart has the Sesame Street license, they sell clothes with the characters). I wanted to get him socks - but all of the socks I saw had no characters - I wanted him to have a Elmo and Cookie Monster socks like mine!

We had burgers, peas and pickles for dinner. Alan loves his pickles (1/2 sour kind). He even spit out the burger to eat the pickle!

Tonight I did laundry, with one of the new Clorox Bleach pens. Somehow one of the items I used it on got bleach on the blue collar. And I got a tiny spot on the sleeve of my new PJ's...I e-mailed Clorox to complain.
