My little holiday necklace (a string of xmas lights beads) just broke. It snagged on something and the barrel clasp's hook bent. The necklace is a bunch of silvery plated beads strung on green string. Can anyone fix it for me after the holidays?

I'll send a photo of the damage if needed.

Download the famous WPIX yule log to your video iPod!

(For many years WPIX, channel 11 here would run a looping video of a yule log burning with Christmas carols playing on Christmas eve and Christmas day)

The day started not so great. Alan absolutely refused to wear the penguin fleece jacket I had for him - so he went to school in his undershirt and cute jeans with a bear on them. Then Mark had left the backpack in his car, so I spent time emptying out the assorted holiday items. I'm not sure in which school he did it (public or daycare) - but he'd made a menorah somewhere which was neat (styrofoam and glitter dipped q tips!). Then I went to get munchkins to bring in to work, but Dunkin was out of them (I'd had this happen once before, I think the same store - you'd think they'd make more), so I got a regular dozen. I dropped Alan at daycare for the day and went to the bagel store and got a 6 red and 6 green bagels and cream cheese also (the bagels were colored red or green with food coloring).

At work I was actually busy though. Had to help a developer at a client site. I did reproduce the problem, and I found 2 other ones along the way!

When we left at 12 I played tourist. I walked down to Bryant Park (behind the MAIN NYC public library - 6th and 42nd). They'd set up a mini craft fair with booths as well as free ice skating. I got a tote bag from the Candian tourist booth (very thin canvas) and sampled free coffee from the coffee pod using machine being promoted. (Sorry, I'd rather use regular ground coffee and my mr. coffee - more choices for what to make!)

Then home, via the library to return something and pick up a book (Exodus by Leon Uris - a coworker is reading this in Russian and loves it.) Mark talked me into sending back the CBMOC book I ordered (drat) and we went to do errands. I ended up in Home Depot to return the screwdriver I'd gotten to fix the dishwasher - it didn't fit. I ended up checking the GE machines on display, finding one that had the same bottom part and asking someone from hardware what I needed. Ended up with a really nice racheting screwdriver set from Black and Decker which did the trick. I unscrewed the food trap, removed some sippy cup straws that seemed to have been stuck, bailed the water out of the dishwasher into the sink (there was a few inches on the bottom), put the trap back on - and all is well. Not bad for 10.00 and 15 minutes of work!

I still have to wrap Chanuka gifts for Alan (some thomas stuff, what else). I organized all my bows and tags for Chanuka and Xmas. I found stickers I used to collect and added them to Alan's collection (sadly he doesn't seem to care for them yet).

I'll probably go to Target between 8 and 9. I'd like to get Mark something cute. I may also need to get something to bring if we visit friends on the 25th (they are Jewish also with a son 5 months older than Alan).

I just hope Alan doesn't spend the days at home watching Thomas videos ALL day. Sigh.
