Mark and I looked up our high school web pages. He graduated in 1979 and me in 1980 (from River Dell in NJ and Oceanside Senior HS in NY respectively). We were both surprised to find some staff still there. I saw my 9th grade science teacher and my AB calculus (12th grade) teacher still there. And some of the same classes such as the latin/greek class that was offered (didn't take it).

Skating

Last night with a sick Alan curled up next to me, I put on some figure skating I came across while flipping channels - it was some sort of team championship on the Oxygen channel. I like skating and The Ice House skating rink near me is where some champion skaters (such as Sarah Hughes) train. Mark even likes it.

Anyway Ina and Zimmerman were skating for the US - to of all things U2's Vertigo. Nice routine, but the sound quality was horrible - like someone had a microphone to the area speaker - what would Bono think of being ice skated too? The next pair was the Canadian pair from the 2002 Olympics - didn't see much of their routine but they were skating to Winona Judd covering Foreigner's I Want to Know What Love Is. I decided I wasn't crazy about the music etc after that.

Alan had a rough night last night - no luck medicating him to bring down the fever - wouldn't drink. So this morning I set out to find the tylenol (Feverall supositories). Target's pharmacy was closed, but I did grab a few clearance items while there including sneakers for him for 3.74 (75% off) and some neat blue/green foil paper that didn't look holidayish at all at 50% off. Then I went to Walgreens and found the infant sized suppositories - better than nothing. So I gave him one which helped a little (it wasn't strong enough) - and called my pediatrician - they took calls via the service and called back for appointments.

We saw his pediatrician - he had an ear infection (one ear was better from 2 weeks ago, the other worse). So she prescribed omnicef. (I tried to get anitbiotic shots, she wouldn't do it). I then had to fill the prescription. Our shoprite (pharmacy) was closed today. I tried the Rite Aid near the doctors office, they didn't have it, nor did the closest rite aid (they called). I headed back toward Walgreens, only to pass the CVS where I got the actifed yesterday. So I went there and they had it. I noticed tonight they said 5 days, the doctor said 10 so I have to sort that out. He was pretty good while out but CVS doesn't have a lot of toys to amuse him (it's small). Came home, eventually Alan got 2 more doses of tylenol and Mark tried to get him to take omnicef in juice. They ended up napping and so did I, after I changed the fish tank and put draino in the bathtub. He seemed better after the nap, we got him to eat (cereal and milk at first) then he had the omnicef in chocolate milk.

Later he started talking about turkey, mashed potatoes, spinach, cornbread - so I drove to Boston Market and got a meal for 3 (we usually get the 4 as the coupons are 4 of $20, the meal for 3 is 17 something, the meal for 4 over 20). He ate a little spinach and potatoes - still a bit picky but at least he's eating. He seems back to a normal temperature and in good spirts playing with his toys.

He is doing much better in vocabulary lately - he asks for things more specifically - red boat, thomas shoes, baked ziti. He'll even say please and do some offering of stuff to us. The problem is he gets into what I call "random request mode" - where he asks for something, then something completey different seconds later or refuses what he just asked for - is this a normal 3 year old thing - how can I get him to mean what he says somewhat?

We'll stay home (more or less) tommorrow and then I'll go to work on Wednesday to make up that lost vacation day. The week isn't exactly what I planned, but it could be worse.

And I really need to get Mark a DVD. We keep watching concert DVD's on my PC - but you have to lie at an odd angle on the bed. We have 3 DVD players around - bedroom TV, my PC and living room PC - but mine has the best stereo. so I get kicked off :( (The living room one was wired into the stereo for stereo sound but it wasn't working the last time we tried it and we need Mark's friend Ray to help fix it - he did it years ago.)
