Friday night we watched Madagascar with Alan. He liked the beginning of it - I was impressed with the NYC animation scenes (the backgrounds looked so real, even the Times Square shot (I walk past there daily!) Alan and I danced to the closing credits - so I'll get the sound track. I did notice he was playing with other toys for a change - he colored and he did a puzzle, so he's not quite as obsessed with Thomas - although there are days when I think he has a one track mind (pun intended) (or if you looked in his head you'd see a train in there).

Saturday, Alan had a cold. We did some errands and I took him to the doctor - not really for the cold, but the not healing scrapes on his forehead. Not much advice from the doctor except keep them covered. Sigh. But I did bring some hot wheels (toy cars) to play with while we were in the doctor's office waiting and they did help the time pass. The only thing Alan didn't want to do was have the doctor look in his mouth. (Alan is actually brushing his teeth again.) Later we left Alan at my MILs to go out to dinner at the diner for our friends birthday. Service there was very slow, the diner was very empty. Our party of 20+ was most of the customers in it at the time. Food had big portions but didn't taste great.

We got out at 10 PM, and my MIL offered to keep Alan for the night (I'd left PJ's for him, figuring he'd come home in them). So we left him there. This was the first time he's stayed over there except for medical reasons with my radiation. I think I would have prepared him in advance, but he did well. He woke up at 6 on Sunday and just played quietly, he didn't try to crawl in with my MIL in bed at least. I do think he was a little clingy Sunday though.

Alas, we were too tired to do much with child-free time except sleep and vaccuum. My MIL dropped him off - he was asleep as it was nap time but of course, he wouldn't go back to sleep. I did take a ride out in the afternoon - to big lots (but they didn't have the raincoats in the flyer - got some snacks and mac and cheese), dollar tree (snacks, juice boxes, coloring book), corados (grocery - nothing there), and children's wear (got a sweatshirt jacket and a sponge bob sweatshirt - they didn't have a raincoat either).

So it was a pretty quiet weekend after all.

Got up and checked out the new gymboree lines. Not much exciting, I'll probably get pj's, a hooded towel (he needs one, the ones I've had forever for him are worn), and the aviator sunglasses. (I fell asleep last night before new lines went up on Sunday at midnight).

When we got into the car, I flipped on the radio. Shame by Evelyn champaign-king was on (old disco) - checked the station - it had been on lite-fm. I still find it weird hearing disco stuff on that "office-friendly" station. When that was over I found the logical song by Supertramp on the classic rock station - that was it - we were at the sitter. (Yes, I listen to radio about 5-10 minutes a day these weekdays).

Not sure about our next weekend plans. I'd mention Mark's uncle's SO was ill, there was supposed to be a 70th birthday party (surprise) for her in Mass on Saturday (3-4 hour drive for us). We weren't going to go, but now we may. I'll have to cancel some medical stuff (my dental cleaning again, and a mammogram (yes, i got one at 7:45 AM on a Saturday!!)) but it might be fun. (We will be near Worcester, maybe we'll visit my alma-matter (WPI) and show it to Alan.)

Today's color is blue.

I have a blue turtleneck, khaki pants and blue striped socks with a cat on them.

Alan has on a soft blue/green/white gymboree shirt (Scouts Honor), a pair of basic gymboree jeans, and gymboree socks that are navy with a kelly green stripe. It's what I grabbed for him, the all gymboree outfit was semi-intentional.

Mark just wore his usual stuff. Although he almost wore my pants - last night when I had my pants on the chair we share by the computer, he thought they were his and put all his stuff in the pockets. I moved them, also thinking they were his when I was using the chair so his stuff wouldn't fall out. This AM I started to get ready and noticed my pants gone. Mark was about to put them on - he said he was wondering why his pockets had gotten small. I found him another pair of pants ASAP!

I've been up and down the East Coast with 2 exceptions - I flew to Chicago in 1979 to visit friends who'd moved to Illinois and I changed planes once in Detroit flying to Florida (what people do for a cheap airfare).

Note: I recommend the chocolate cat cookies and Mark recommends the frozen mango.

Sarah Jessica Parker's son James, is about 2 weeks younger than Alan. I admit to "following" him in the gossip magazines. So I was surprised to read an article similar to the link below where he asks to see Brokeback Mountain:

http://www.contactmusic.com/new/xmlfeed.nsf/mndwebpages/parker%20shocked%20son%20wanted%20to%20see%20brokeback%20mountain_08_03_2006

Alan hasn't asked to see a movie. He barely tells us what he did that day in school! I doubt the kids in his class would be discussing Brokeback Mountain anyway.

Actually, the scenario appears to be twisted from a story here:

where he saw the DVD and possibly TV commercials which makes more sense.
