When he doesn't want to sleep - he'll chatter a lot - sometimes it appears to be bits of books and TV, sometimes I don't have a clue.

Tonight he talked about a dragon eating pshgetti and meatballs. It was green and it's name was Prince.

He was also talking about a magic hair brush (from Dora)?

He also talked about Patchy the Pirate (from Sponge Bob) going down the slide and on the swings today.

And about ants and caterpillars and beetles dancing (he didn't get it when I asked him if it was Beatles music).

He still doesn't seem to like music, asks me to turn off the radio in the car. Maybe a Laurie Berkner CD will help?

Growing up, my mon was very active in PTA in Oceanside,NY - up to the district council level and the NY State level as bylaws chairman (file cabinets of typed bylaws lived in our spare bedroom). She was also on an ad hoc committe to study which schools to close due to declining enrollment in the mid to late 1970's and organized fundraising dinners in town. (I still remember one check from an attendee she showed me - no way was the signature the guys name but it was).

Anyway tonight was Coffee Hour with the superindendant of Little Ferry. So I went, while Mark and Alan went to Wendy's. (It appears all of the school type stuff is my area to deal with, but I don't mind.) So I went. One person was in front of me talking about a sports program of some sort but no one else was there. I was surprised to meet the superindendant - he looks and sounds like he could be in a Sopranos episode and I'd say he's close to my our age (40s-50s'). I'd gone to praise Alan's teacher, comment on the Am starting time being awkward and about scheduling open school nite on Passover. We had a nice chat. He came up with the idea of a preschool parent meeting/tea for next year before school starts - this will help the parents meet each other and coordinate pickups (the town's before/after care won't take pre-k). They had about 89 for next year's pre-k class. We also talked about a few other things like the high school and how I feel the district is changing (schools improving, more kids in town).

It was worth the 20 minutes of my time. I just wished my mom were around, she'd finding it amusing I'm following in her footsteps and being involved. Will I wind up on PTA or schoolboard? Who knows!
