Despite the fact that it is that * messy * time of the month again, it’s a good day. (Even though I don’t have the pain some people have, the mess and laundry stainage still s*cks!)

Got Alan up earlier because I had to drop off the car at the Chevy dealer. They’ve agreed to fix the car for free (although it looks like it was broken into at one time.) They also noted that there is extra corrosion under the car – like it sat in water. They appear to be willing to offer me a nice deal on a 2006 Cobalt. Don’t know if we’ll do it or not – but I did see a nice RED 4 door one on the lot the last time I was there (red is not boring like silver is!). I also saw a cute 2003 Toyota Echo if I could convince Mark to replace the ratty old Geo. (They probably will sell the Echo quickly with gas prices the way they are…it looks so tiny with the big SUV’s, trucks and a Hummer next to it! I guess someone one traded it because they needed something bigger.

(Note, this dealer didn’t sell me the car, I got it from a person operating out of a used car dealership on the local used car row on Rt. 46 – never again)

At least I take the bus to work – NJ Transit trains are all a mess because of some Amtrak power outage. Where is Thomas the Tank Engine when you need him!

From an e-mail at work:

"If you have heard a rumor that the building next door is being evacuated it's true. It is due to the water tower atop the building springing a large leak that has disabled their elevators and air-conditioning systems.
Luck people, they get to go home!"

The building is 1166 Sixth Avenue - I looked out the window (no, I can't see the leak), we are at 1180.

My husband needs to record something on TV on 6/16 to be put on a website (permission has been obtained).

We only have a VCR - what is the best way to do this - can someone get it off a TiVO recording? I have suggested getting an offical copy of the program from the producers which could be on a DVD.

Someone on a mailing list I'm on asked how to add fluid to a radiator - they needed to get a car that had overheated to their mechanic. I wrote the following:

"In most cars you add fluid to the overflow container not the radiator itself. The overflow container usually looks like a plastic 1/2 gallon bottle of milk and has a tube connecting it to the radiator which is the large silvery thing right up front by the front of the car.

If there is fluid there, it should be clear or yellow/green and smell sweet. If you see one with blue fluid, that's the washer fluid.

There's usually a mark on the container to fill up to. Just pour water or fluid into the container to that mark. If it leaks out immediately, that's the problem - I'd call your mechanic.

Hope this helps - I've learned about car repair by having things done over the years."

I got a positive comment back from someone's list writing I admire as well as being able to help the original poster. Made me feel good :)

I did some shoping for me on the way home tonight. Got 2 things at Gap (pale pink t, dark pink tunic) - they might fit and the pink matches the pink embroidery on my new denim capris I want to wear tommorrow.

Also stopped at Strawberries (a NYC Jr size chain) and got a pair of what I'd describe as black legging/bermuda shorts - not wide like gauchos. They have pockets and a little bow. Hopefully they'll be fitting but not super tight. Good for running around with a big shirt (maybe not how they were intended to be worn, but how Like them - I even spotted 80's style bike shorts and legging capris...I think they are to be worn under skirts and although they say you shouldn't wear somethings the second time around I miss leggings and big t's.

Still need a bathing suit. Tonight, I a cute one it in Women's World weekly (which doesn't have a website). So I e-mailed the magazine and the mfg's website to see if I can find it.

When I got home I got a note about Alan's school trip in his bag. Attached was a note that said please dress your child in red. Ack - I had a nice new Naartjie outfit out in blues and greens all picked out! I think Alan has 3 red T's, one of which is Thomas. It might of been nice to know a few days ago, what if he had no red (and I assumed bright red, not maroon or faded red.) I am not sure if just Alan is doing red or if class or all the pre-k's are. (If given a choice I would have asked for blue...I have the most of it, and I like on him!)

Zzzz...Probably should crash soon.

Next week I'll have had my job 4.5 years (6/2). If I make it to 1/2/07 it will be longest I've ever had a job - 5 years!
