I did some shoping for me on the way home tonight. Got 2 things at Gap (pale pink t, dark pink tunic) - they might fit and the pink matches the pink embroidery on my new denim capris I want to wear tommorrow.

Also stopped at Strawberries (a NYC Jr size chain) and got a pair of what I'd describe as black legging/bermuda shorts - not wide like gauchos. They have pockets and a little bow. Hopefully they'll be fitting but not super tight. Good for running around with a big shirt (maybe not how they were intended to be worn, but how Like them - I even spotted 80's style bike shorts and legging capris...I think they are to be worn under skirts and although they say you shouldn't wear somethings the second time around I miss leggings and big t's.

Still need a bathing suit. Tonight, I a cute one it in Women's World weekly (which doesn't have a website). So I e-mailed the magazine and the mfg's website to see if I can find it.

When I got home I got a note about Alan's school trip in his bag. Attached was a note that said please dress your child in red. Ack - I had a nice new Naartjie outfit out in blues and greens all picked out! I think Alan has 3 red T's, one of which is Thomas. It might of been nice to know a few days ago, what if he had no red (and I assumed bright red, not maroon or faded red.) I am not sure if just Alan is doing red or if class or all the pre-k's are. (If given a choice I would have asked for blue...I have the most of it, and I like on him!)

Zzzz...Probably should crash soon.

Next week I'll have had my job 4.5 years (6/2). If I make it to 1/2/07 it will be longest I've ever had a job - 5 years!

How do you pronounce Naartjie? I visited a store when I was in Portland in April, and the lady told me it was like "Narchie". I would have thought it would be more like "Nartya".

Narchie is correct. It's south african for orange I believe.

I'm working on year #6 at current employer - also a standing record for me, the previous being slightly over 3 years.

My guess as to why the request for red, is so they can easily spot the kids in their group in a crowd.

I read a cute story in a book by Joyce Maynard years ago, about taking her 3 small kids to a science museum, and dressing them in red (or some bright color) so she could keep track of them. But she found that lots of other parents had the same idea, and almost ALL the kids there were in bright colors. Then her youngest spilled or barfed or something, all over his shirt, so she just took the shirt off. Then he was really easy to spot, as he was the only kid running around with NO shirt at all!

It was for spotting and most of the kids did fulfill the request - even the teachers were in red. I did see several other groups from other schools coordinating - one school had school shirts on, another had matching painters hats!

Hmm, when I think of "Strawberries," I think of a New England chain of record stores... :-)

I suspect Strawberries is long gone these days.
