Friday - it's hard to believe summer is over already. Usually this time of year brings thoughts of Labor Day and when are the Jewish Holidays. Now, sadly thoughts of 9/11 are in there also. It's hard to believe it's been almost 5 years.

Yesterday I got Alan from daycare and we went to the library. For some reason we were the only 2 customers there at the time. She was really nice and gave Alan a free happy meal card from McDonalds. She also recommened a Jacques Pepin book when I was looking for healthy cooking - said her husband had taken 2 classes with him. She mentioned they'd been busy with kids not doing their summer reading until the last minutes. I don't remember having summer reading lists growing up. But since I like to read, it may have been no big deal and not worth remembering.  Alan is getting better at looking for books in the library - he went to where the Thomas books were and found one we hadn't read yet. Then he wanted to read it. Someday he'll discover there are lots of other books on other subjects :)

Today would have been Alan's last sprinkler day at daycare for the summer. But I think it will be rained out - I put his suit in the bag but not the towel anyway. I hope we get some last swimming in this weekend. Saturday is a bit hectic with furniture, family fun day and pool party - but Sunday looks rainy. I probably could use a day to reorganize anyway - I suspect stuff will be tossed everywhere to get the new furniture in (and old out) and I'll do more weeding of stuff as I put it away. I found a pile of old electronics (cd players, radios) in one drawer and also some old bathing suits. Maybe I'll fit back into them someday.

Tonight we are going out to dinner for Mark's birthday - to Charlie Brown's with my MIL. Hopefully it won't be busy and Alan will eat something.

Note: Manhattan is New York County - I'm not in the Northern part. Previous e-mails made it sound like the storm did go through my town in NJ - calling daycare just in case.
