lesliepearI'm in a lousy mood today.
Last night while playing with Alan, he bumped me. I cut my lip :( So I have 2 lumps in my mouth now and foot trouble.
I also went to bed too late again. I'm not sleeping well (perhaps because I'm on 5mg xanax XR) and I also ran out of 1 piece pj's for Alan. So he wore a 2 piece one and leaked, so I changed him at 1 AM to a onesie and clean diaper. Crashed on the living room couch after that.
Had a hard time getting started today. Missed one bus by a few minutes. And when I was walking through Port Authority they were handing out alternate transit guides to mark the anniversary of last years blackout.
I'm embarrased about the McGreevy mess. I plan to vote republican in the next local election (still not for bush). The NJ democrats must be scrambling for damage control. The republicans must be happy. If they were smart they'd get whomever they want for NJ governor (Schundler) to speak at the convention in NYC. Look what it did for the Illinois democratic senate candidate (Obama) - all of a sudden he went from an unknown to having the republican's move someone from Maryland to run against him (desperate measure, I'd also heard they were trying to draft Mike Ditka of all people!)
It's more the abuse of power and sticking his boyfriend in a very visible position he wasn't qualified for that gets me. He met this guy on a political trip to Israel when he was mayor of Woodbridge. He ended up getting him a job at that time with one of his supporters. Why he thought he should be Homeland Security person is very odd. I feel bad for his family. I think his older daughter isn't in the US (he'd married a Canadian) and his little girl won't get it (I'm glad I have a little son who doesn't get it either). I saw a photo of him and his family at the press conference. His wife and mom by his side, his wife looking up at him - his dad off to one side scowling and looking grumpy.
For some reason Republicans seem to be better at fidelity - Ronald Regan loved Nancy very much, neither of the Bush's have cheated as far as I know. The only unfaithful republican that comes to mind is Rudolph Juliani (hey, maybe he should run for governor of NJ, I do think he's a good leader).
I don't have a problem with McGreevy being gay - that's irrelevant to the whole issue. Sexual preference doesn't matter for political office as far as I'm concerned.
