I suffer from depression. I am a strong, intelligent, capable person. I am neither weak nor stupid nor lazy. Depression is an illness that millions of people suffer from and there is nothing wrong with admitting you need help sometimes.

You know, it's interesting, I'm an overly anxious person. I can't tell you how many doctors and shrinks insist I'm depressed. When I've been on meds the depression medication makes me more anxious, sleepy and often suicidal. I've found the bare minimum of anxiety meds allows me to function beautifully.

There is nothing wrong with admitting you need help. There is nothing wrong with insisting you need help. Truly, I wish doctors were more willing to listen. I wish those closest to me didn't label me as stupid or wacko because I have anxiety attacks.

I actually suffer more from anxiety depression than pure depression. I had some PPD after Alan was born and events in the last year have brought some anxeity. I'm trying to get off meds, but time will tell.

I suffer from depression as well, and have since I turned 15. I watch my kids for signs in them as well - I pray they aren't afflicted with it. Meds are the difference between night and day for me. I've tried to wean myself off and it has not been pretty. At least there is something that can be done, though...

I also dealt with PPD and to be honest, both of my maternity leaves are gray blurs...but we all survived!
