Public Offical Doesn't Use Discretion with his My Space Account?

I think people need to realize that certain things aren't private in cyberspace anymore. And from what I've seen my space tends to be somewhat full of substance abuse related blogging. I write many posts in my head but decide not to post them, or friends lock them (mostly work related gripes).

Everything else is personal but boring or stuff people can find out about me anyway, including my thyroid cancer (I have a scar on my neck).

As far as I can tell, myspace.com caters to an even younger (on average) crowd than LJ...

MySpace is pretty frightening, for the most part. As someone else said, it's a *very* young crowd and also filled with quite a few fake profiles (I believe that Friedrich Nietzsche has a profile and is a regular user). Also there are a lot of users under 18 (although the site states you must be over that age). My mom's three godchildren (13, 15, 17) all have MySpace accounts and use them religiously, as do all their friends.

And yes, there must be lots of self-censoring for those of us who realize that nothing is private on the internet and that it's far too easy to venture into the land of "too much information." (Yeah, right, like I'm one to talk after my last post.)

I found a website this morning and thought you might find it neat too!

Its in NYC and people post pictures of stuff that have been thrown away that are sitting on the street that other people might want. That is to cool to me!

Kind of neat. There seems to be stuff near where I used to work (on West 23rd Street), but nothing where I am now (near Times Square and Rockefeller Center).

I tend to think of MySpace mainly as the realm for 15-25 year olds who regularly misspell three-letter words (and I'm not even counting "teh"). If you want to be taken seriously, get a grown-up blog. And stop talking about your Spongebob pajamas.
