So these are the parts I need

The car needs these 3 parts - ignition cylender, housing and switch. I got the info from the dealer, had him close the ticket and left it very nicely - apparently when I brought the car in November I didn't mention the key being hard to turn which is why they opened the housing up. I still have till October on the original warantee and it could be possible that other things might need attention so I didn't want to p*ss off the service department which has generally been helpful.

Hopefully these parts can be gotten cheaply or even in a junkyard. Cars that wind up in a junkyard usually aren't there for broken ignitions - even if they are totalled. (I had a good experience getting a interior door handle for my escort from a junkyard.)

Oddly enough, I think my old mechanic still has my Escort. When I go by him on the bus, I see the roof of a car in his parking lot that looks like it - I can't get close enough to confirm it.

I've had good luck gettinf parts like that off ebay! They are from junkyards, but like you said, in good working order and cheaper than new!
