Alan is just getting on our nerves lately - laughs at us when he does something wrong, acts very self centered, eats what he wants, won't show any initiative on potty training. Not sure if it's a 4 year old thing or not - he doesn't act this way around other people (school, grandma).

Not much happened this weekend. Lots of trips to the video store - Mark signed up for Block Buster online which now has some funky (good) instore options, so we took out a few.

Looking forward to going to work tommorrow - although I'm totally stressed from deadlines/workload, at least I get a break from Alan for a bit.

Believe it or not, Alan being a stinker is an important developmental step. It's how he starts to develop his own identidy... Painful and as annoying as it can be at age 4!

I don't know how you are approaching the pottying, we finally stuck Ryan in big boy undies and dealt with the messes for the next couple of weeks until he suddenly decided he didn't like messes. It was literally pull my hair out frustrating one week, and smooth sailing the next. I hope Alan picks up on it soon!

4 YO's are very bossy. Ryan's already told me "I know everything, Mommy!." They are also deaf. He ignores us asking, then telling him to stop whatever the inappropriate activity of the moment is.

If he weren't a little loving angel and helper boy most of the time, it would get old extremely fast.

We are trying but can't do underware full time with Alan in daycare and public school. Daycare doesn't like cleaning underware messes it seems.

Really? Our daycare told us to start sending him in underwear, along with spare undies and pants. This meant that we sometimes had plastic baggies with really nasty pooped in underwear/pants come home with him. Hubby voted to toss such things....but the new washer has a "sanitize" cycle...aka wash things in boiling water, just about!

Have you talked to them already? I would be concerned that they are putting some inconvienence to themselves above helping Alan pick up an important skill!
