Guess who has an opened, 1/2 used jar with that product # on it - we do. Should I toss it or finish it? Guess I'd better go shopping!

Return it and buy something else with the refund?

We had a big six pound jar, 1/2 full, just tossed it. There is no product number on it, but I have been having tummy trouble (cramping, etc) after eating peanut butter, so better safe than sorry. Thanks so much for posting this.

Your health is worth a couple of bucks, so I'd certainly not eat it. You can probably return it, if you're so inclined, but I wouldn't finish it.

Oh my! We *just* finished a jar of Peter Pan last week. Ewww...

Funny thing though, I specifically wrote Jif while making the grocery list a couple of days ago. You just can't beat Jif, IMO.

Ugh, I have some walmart peanut butter, too! I'm at school, though, so I can't check it immediately!

I've got two jars of the stuff with the right number on the lid. One jar is *almost* empty, one isn't opened yet. The unopened one is going right in the trash, but since I've been eating from the other jar for a month and haven't gotten sick, I wonder if I should trash it too? Hmmmm....

Thanks for posting this, Leslie!

Save the jar for future needs if any lawsuits arise from it--endangerment and all. Also go get your boy checked for salmonella at the doctor's. A quick stool sample will put peace of mind in place. I think it is absolutely necessary, and that is coming from someone who handles food bourne bacteria daily.

Could a child have samonella with no symptons? He had a few days in the past month with bright green poop - but other wise no signs of being sick.

I'm not a doctor so I can't say. But I personally have had food poisoning that was misdiagnosed twice and then ended up in the hospital. I've had salmonella about 4 times and campylobacter twice in my 30 years of kitchen work. I didn't know I was sick once till I started seeing blood in the toilet. Better safe than sorry.
