Camera Suggestions?

In the market for a new camera, my 7 MP Olympus is acting up and I lost my camera case Friday night at Izod Center (left it behind I think).  I wonder if there are new cameras with the features I like (uses regular batteries, has a REAL viewfinder and optical zoom) still out there. Looking for a point and shoot plus camera not a DSLR. Suggestions welcomed.

Chalk up another vote for Canon. I have a PowerShot A1100 IS that's 12MP. Got it dirt-cheap on Amazon--retail was around $130 at the time (coupla years ago) and I had some gift cards, so I think my out of pocket was maybe $80. It's the camera I've used to take all my Facebook pictures. It's a point and shoot with a few bells and whistles that hubby thinks are neat but which I rarely bother with (although the auto-focus feature is quite nice). When I started looking on Amazon for point/shoots, after I'd picked out the Canon hubby decided to amuse himself by looking for his own "perfect" camera (he used to work in a camera store, and got spoiled for what a "good" camera "should" be).

The camera he wanted was $1200.
