Stuff I've been meaning to write:

Friday night I had on WPLJ as I was driving to Gymboree. The announcer said something like "More variety" - and on came "Summer Nights" from Grease (John Travolta and Oliva Newton-John). I haven't heard it in years - brought me back to high school - seeing it on Broadway, watching it in summer camp, seeing the movie in the Oceanside theater by myself. Then came on a current song with the lyrics "..all the way down..." I don't know who does it though. Then they played Modern English's "Stop the World and Melt with You" - again I hadn't heard it in a long time - brought me back to freshman year at college. But then we got to Gymboree, no more radio :(

Today they played Goodie Two Shoes by Adam Ant - another one I hadn't heard in ages.

Picked up and returned CD's from the library - we'd gotten a Renaissance CD in but for some reason neither US or the librarian could open the case (it was from another library). So it was returned with a note "Patron can not open CD". I hadn't heard them in years, but since Mark's been listening to the AOL/XM channel for progressive rock, we rediscovered them :)

Tonight was Alan's back to school night. We learned he doesn't like finger paint, he likes to sing along in circle time, and one of the rewards for the circle time is a stamp on the arm (so that's why he had one the other day). He'll be doing tracing by November - wow he'll be writing his name in the near future I guess. We met some of the parents of his classmates. One of his classmates, Jaden, has parents in the military - his mom's ship is coming to the US next week - he lives with his grandmother. (His class has Jaden (boy) and Jaiden (girl) which is weird.) And my husband met the director of the school. But he noticed it was mostly mom's there - I said the dad's were home with the kids (my MIL was with Alan).

Nervous about Texas as I've got a few LJ friends there - mostly with children near Alan's age (met in the pregnancy communities). I also have my aunt (my late uncle's wife) in Houston - she works for Continental. Her son, DIL and grandchildren are somewhere in Texas also - but I think further inland. And there is a mom on my baby list in the Austin area. I also sent off a backpack for the "Got Your Back" program this morning via priority mail - the address is a school in Houston :(
